Pop did get his B-
I like your work and value every word that you write.
But if you give Pop a B- ...
Pop was sloooooooooowwww to change the line-up.
One thing that even the commentators mentioned was that the Jazz are better than us for 3 and from within 5 ft.
A coach must make adjustments to disrupt one of the two at least.
The Jazz starting 5 is bigger and tougher than us.
Pop knows this but refuses to adjust.
I like how the Jazz don't use the 5 in 5 out pattern of subs ution. They play their bench players with their starter.
Pop seldon plays Luka and Poeltl together. The moment Luka started defending Bogdanovic, he did not score at will.
Luka is the only player we have that can be bigger, faster and as strong as the attacker. Why not play him more?
I've said here more than once that Poeltl is forced to do TOO MUCH on defense. He has to back up two bad defenders (Demar and Keldon), slower/small defenders (Gay and Mills) and is caught out of position to either box out or get the rebound. If you sub Luka for Keldon, you will have enough size to recover, block shots and rebounds.
Notice that the Jazz were more contained after we played with two over 6'9 agile enough players. Pop is sloooooooow to notice anything more than the system he wants to see executed.
Remember that we have been average for most of the last 2 years. We are not good enough to win 4 out of 7 against the top teams but we always had enough talent to win winnable games that we often lose. That's all on Pop.
Half the league is better than us. Pop is no longer the best in the game for some time. Just like Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan and others... his reign is coming to an end. We must all aknowledge it.
As soon as he catches his all-time record, hope he steps down. And an ex-player like Patty Mills, Bruce Bowen, Manu or even Timmy become our next coach.

This season in one picture:
Yeah, that pic does sum it up. Basketball and 3 point shots are not that important in the grand scheme of things says Pop.
He is not ready yet. Rudy and Patty are better options for what I do here.
he's 21, could be a junior in college
We'll see if a couple more years if his NBA smarts increase to match his talent.
6'10" and moves better, lighter footed than players inches shorter

Very few players in the upcoming draft who are similar in height are as quick as Samanic. There might not be any at all.
If we're willing to settle for someone like Duarte, who is 24 years old, for offensive firepower to add to our wings, why wouldn't we be hopeful for someone like Luka?
That first paragraph referenced to fatigue has me worried. There's a scenario where management attributes the 2nd half spiral to the compressed schedule, and decides to run it back with the three vets.
last night was the first time pop gave luka free reign and didn't get on him for every little thing, but i've said this all along. if pop ain't on your ass, he probably doesn't have the highest expectations for you.
I have hope in Luka, since hope is all we Spurs fans have, since we don't have a winning team.
Robz4000Pop did get his B-
His sinuses are showing signs of clearing with Patty.
With all the close losses that this group has endured the last 4 weeks, combined with the grueling schedule, the results of this game were totally expected. Zero shock there. I would have confidently bet on a 30 point loss had I been at the sportsbook.
Glad the young guys got some run.
There isn't a gimme on the rest of the slate, so it's highly possible the Spurs fall out of the play-in...which would be sad I think. I'd like to see what the team could do in that situation. The Spurs are basically ignored by the national media, and I do think there's a shot at surprising some folks in that play-in tourney. At this point, though, I think we may end up 11th in the west. I guess the only silver lining there would be that it would tell the FO that hanging on to any veteran at too high of a price would be a mistake if our ceiling is best of the bottom five in the conference.
LJ just trolling people now
Luka and Devin needed more minutes earlier in the season. Vassell is suddenly seeing growing pains after being thrust into a bigger role... no . That's why you get these guys on the floor earlier to play through that and learn, instead of doing it now toward the end of the season.
Just happy to see Luka, Vassell and Tre balling out there. Patty and Mills are done.
Patty and Mills sure are done. So done, need to be named twice. He should retire twice.
I means Patty and Rudy. Either way, both are slow
Amen. That and the "Will Lonnie be great this game or do nothing" sweepstakes are the only reason to watch the rest of the season.
It was nice to see the young guys gets a good amount of run. This off season is going to be a interesting for our Spurs.
