For reference, Lonnie, Keldon, and DJ all have a longer wingspan than him.
There is no more overrated measurement in all of sports than wingspan, unless it is just way to small for the sport. As long as Vessel wingspan is 6 "7" or higher he will be fine.

6-5 without shoes is like 6-6 or 6-7 with shoes. He looks long af. Theres no reason why he cant play SF as well.
It doesn't matter how tall you are if your wingspan isn't long to match it. Lonnie, DJ, Keldon all have equal or greater wingspan than him. He's not long.

Tell that to Kawhi whose wingspan has helped him so much.

Tell that to all the great defenders at the SF position who have great wingspan.

Not the biggest fan, but I do like the idea of picking a defender. I don't think he was better value than Haliburton, Lewis or Nesmith though.
You were excited about Lamar Jackson being the QB of your Ravens team. STFU!

Vassell has a longer wingspan than Keldon. Pretty close to DJ's wingspan.

I was wrong about Keldon. Vassell has 3/4" longer wingspan than Keldon.

Yeah, we all LOVED seeing DeMar play small forward all these years. That has been so great.

Exactly. We drafted someone to a position that already has Murray, Walker, and KJ. Had big holes elsewhere.

Wingspan couldn't stop him from losing 3 - 1 to the nuggets

Wingspan can't make him play back to back games either

Out of all the things that make a great defender, I would have wingspan toward the bottom of the list...

Again...it's not like Vassel is a T-rex. He just doesn't have a freakish wingspan. I'll forgive him...

No worries, he has a decent wingspan for his height just needs to translate into good results hopefully.

I think what people are all getting wrong is that Vassell is going to be the SF of the future. That's Keldon. Keldon looks bigger than Vassell. If Vassell ends up being better than Lonnie, then it's Vassell at the SG spot, and Keldon at the SF spot (guarding the taller players).

This is a solid ass pick. Can shoot the three in front of people's faces, not scared to drive in, and a damn good defender.

Where did the Spurs have holes when you really think about it. I assume you're talking about the current roster, which is at least two deep at every position. If you're talking about the future, then it doesn't make sense to complain. The goal should be to get the best players, not to try to make a young starting five that won't stay together anyway.

What a stupid argument. Basketball is becoming more and more position-less every year. You can never have too many versatile 6-5 and up guys.

Idk how people could hate this pick, I think he’ll be great! Kevin O Connor had him #6 on his big board!! He really reminds me of Khris Middleton

Cant wait to see what we do with pick 41

Curious if any spurs insiders like Mo kno if spurs would've taken Jalen Smith over Vassel...Suns shouldn't have picked over spurs after going 8-0 in bubble...stupid rules

What argument is being made here?

Keldon will guard the taller players out of the two because he's bigger and stronger. That's all it is.

Either Lonnie is the odd man out or he is going to have to be the JUICE off the bench. I don't see Lonnie beating Vassell in the rotation. (in a year or two when DeMar is gone)
