Sorry about the interjection of old games into the 2021 recruiting page.I figure I have more of a chance of getting other tidbits of info from the old wise ones that may have actually seen and remembered these games. Getting a historical UT sports buzz from the games and any comments. Thanks.
It works for me. The game I spoke of with Earl Campbell was I believe Wyoming which was the second game of Campbell's career in 1974. He was listed at 6 feet and 185 and was lean and athletic. I searched for the game but obviously it is not one of UT's showcase games. I had hoped to see if it was exactly as I remember it. I do recall the forward flip and with the aid if his off hand to regain balance continuing on. We were sitting fairly close right where it happened. I asked my friend sitting with me if he saw what just happened. You mention Metcalf and others and now is a good time to reflect and appreciate those that built and established traditions.

    Cool.
I did not get to see some/most of these guys play or the games so I was having withdrawl symptoms at night when I usually watch some sporting event.
Had to go tubing to see those giant shoulder pads and different rules. Another thing that looks very different is the non delaying nature of the runs, especially on handoffs to the FB. They really used snap count to catch unattentive DT for 4 yards quite a bit it seems.

I noticed this guy from the 69 arky game name DT/DE Gary Ploetz for UT who would get on all 4s way before the OL got to the line of scrimmage just to be ready.
He looked tiny and would get smothered some plays, but he would beat his man many plays just by being ready and quickness. The contrast to todays game is astounding. Those dudes were really tough. Hager got knocked silly Arky 87 first half. Came back and played the second half and had a good game. Outstanding speed, I really did not think the dudes from the old days could run.

    Pretty cool.

I guess this goes back to 2000 and not before? I guess 24/7 only dates so far back...

    Williams and Campbell...

Campbell had to be close to the #1 player in HS but I guess no recruiting rankings back then.

I actually believe he is one of the recruits that Hutzler has a pre-existing relationship with, but I'm not sure.

That's going to leave a mark, even if it was depth purposes only! I'd had figured he was penciled as the starter at RT....

He's not a Tackle. He's a Guard. He would have probably been in contention to start at Guard.

Yes a guard that played a lot at tackie. There go the depth in OL. Will Texas ever have a OL with depth?

    Watched 1984 Auburn v. Texas

Bo Jackson had a decent game.

Todd Dodge had an outstanding game. UT offense did a very good job. Akers had a good game, had some creative calls that really helped.

Willis told OrangeBloods recently he does plan on visiting UT once there is more clarity on the coronavirus.

He was born in San Antonio.
