there's literally nothing that could be done if the senate refuses to do their jobs. with them now rushing to confirm somebody less than 3 months away from inauguration day after blocking obama for 9 months, the rules have gone out the windowThat just makes it sadder that Democrats couldn't seal the deal.
unless we have a cons utional amendment, i dont think we'll ever see a supreme court justice pick confirmed when the same party doesnt control the senate and the white house. we're going to have 3-4 year periods with empty spots on the bench in those scenarios because they system has been broken

Lagoa is certainly the safer political pick, Barrett is the pick to make if you give no s. My money's on Barrett.

The senate also voted 80-15 to confirm her for the COA. Barrett was confirmed with a 55-43 vote. Lagoa got wide bipartisan support.
Definitely the much savvier political move, a Florida Cuban who previously got wide bipartisan senate support, but you run the risk of her moving to the left once she's on the court. Barrett is a surefire Alito clone who's guaranteed to want to overturn Roe, but nominating Barrett is much easier for liberals to paint as extreme. Democrats would need to walk a tightrope in how they handle Lagoa.
