mostly curious what ya’ll think about how Bertans would have performed this year had he stayed with the team? I’m not sure he’d get as many minutes but he’s shooting the ball really well and has been a big positive on offense

I liked Bertans, but he couldn’t guard a fire plug.

Bertans was pretty unstoppable from three in spurts last season too.

But, yeah, Morris fvcked the Spurs pretty good so he could go play for a sh!tty Knicks team.

He's playing more minutes this season and producing more but that doesn't always lead to winning more games. I would consider his defense replacement level but not terrible.

I think that's probably the best answer you're going to get in the whole thread.

Morris and no Lyles on the roster seems like it would be one of the things the Spurs need.

Bertans had 14 and 5 tonight. He was 3-8 from 3P, but got to take 7 FT's. The Wiz got their asses kicked by Denver. And they were -12 during the time Bert was on the floor scoring those 14 points. Pretty much the rest of the bench was positive. I'm not a big fan of the +/-, but it doesn't look like he was a big lift to the team.

I wish he was still here, instead of Beli. The team would be a lot better if Morris had actually signed. It is what it is.

    Good read. Thanks!

I would say that the Spurs need guys who can spread the floor to give DeRozan and LMA a chance. Bertans could have been a good option.

    Bertans ...

I wish he was still here, instead of Beli. ...
The wisdom of Olympus speaks truth. Altho Bertans' defense falls in the category of amusement, he is preferable to Beli or Forbes, and one might even say preferable to Carroll.

Neither can Mills, Forbes or Belli. They still get plenty of minutes. At least Bertans could actually spread the floor by hitting 3s.

This pretty much sums it up
Bertans looks good from far, but far from good.
I really loke him- but despite it all the Spurs offense hasn't been the real big issue. They are currently 7th in points per 100 possessions. Defensively they are the 2nd worse

The problem is that the Spurs wind up with two people on the floor almost all the time that they would need to try and hide on defense. Hiding one is struggle enough. Hiding two is impossible.. It's like a great big HOV lane to the basket. Bertans would have been better than Beli on D (just about impossible not to), and any improvement is an improvement. I don't think enough better to raise them to, say, 15th on defense overall. But even 15th would make it a pretty frustrating season.

Still... if Bertans was here, I wouldn't have to look at the Italian sonofa anymore. I'm really tired of him.

Bertans was a good player for the Spurs, he played to his skill set..3pt shooting. He is looking better for the wizards because it cost them nothing and their is no pressure or expectations like their was in San Antonio. The theory of trading him to sign Morris was good but the reality is Spurs NEEDED 3pt shooting even before losing Bertans. He was a specialist, and you dont give up those guys., Spurs didnt even get a 2nd round out of the deal. And they added a 3rd year partial guarantee to Carroll.
