Trump fires chair of Tennessee Valley Authority board
The president cites the federally owned utility’s decision to outsource some technology jobs and blasts current CEO
President Trump fired two members of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s board of directors on Monday, including the chair Trump himself had appointed earlier in his term
singled out the TVA for “unfairly replacing American workers with low-cost foreign labor."
But that’s not the case. The TVA contracts, of course not!
which require the work be done on U.S. soil, are the same as those issued by other federal agencies and do not specify whether the contractors use U.S. workers or skilled foreigners working in the United States legally,
Trump threatened to oust more of the TVA board if it did not change its decision. Big Man!
164 employees would be affected, 52 of them had already found other jobs within TVA or elsewhere.
But the order was more symbolic than a change to hiring policy, experts said. Almost all federal jobs require applicants to be U.S. citizens or nationals,
The government’s time-consuming hiring process ensures that during what are known as "suitability" investigations of a job candidate’s background, these policies are carried out.
“All TVA employees are U.S.-based citizens. All jobs related to TVA’s Information Technology department must be performed in the U.S. by individuals who may legally work in this country,”
One administration official, ... called the executive order a
“meaningless dog whistle to political cons uencies to make clear the administration is ‘tough’ on foreigners."

Investigative reporter David Cay Johnston explains when you’ll see Trump get indicted
“Prosecutors already have the basic tax information on Donald Trump.
Your state tax return is virtually identical to your federal return, and
the IRS shares tax information with the state,”
“What they don’t have are
the business records of the Trump Organization,
the accounting records that they’ve been fighting for from Mazars USA — Trump’s accounting firm —
including drafts of tax returns and instructions by Trump, and
the banking records.
Once they have all of those records and can present them to a grand jury,
I would anticipate you’ll see Donald Trump indicted.”

I'd like to know, can anyone point to one objective success Trump has had during his presidency? I know we could fill up this thread with his failures, but how has he made the country better?
Do you pronounce it Thighland?
Yes or no.

it is already federal law in the Affordable Care Act,
that was passed a decade ago by congressional Democrats and then-
President Barack Obama.
it conflicted with a brief the administration recently filed with the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump antagonizes GOP megadonor Adelson in heated phone call
Trump chided the Las Vegas mogul — a financial linchpin of his reelection effort — for not spending more. And now, he might not.
When President Donald Trump connected by phone last week with Republican mega-donor Sheldon Adelson — perhaps the only person in the party who can cut a nine-figure check to aid his reelection — the phone call unexpectedly turned contentious.
The 87-year-old casino mogul had reached out to Trump to talk about the coronavirus relief bill and the economy. But then Trump brought the conversation around to the campaign and confronted Adelson about why he wasn’t doing more to bolster his reelection, according to three people with direct knowledge of the call. One of the people said it was apparent the president had no idea how much Adelson, who’s donated tens of millions of dollars to pro-Trump efforts over the years, had helped him. Adelson chose not to come back at Trump.
When word of the call circulated afterward, Republican Party officials grew alarmed the president had antagonized one of his biggest benefactors at a precarious moment in his campaign. They rushed to smooth things over with him, but the damage may have been done.
Adelson's allies say it’s unclear whether the episode will dissuade the Las Vegas mogul — long regarded as a financial linchpin for Trump’s reelection — from helping the president down the home stretch.
