San Antonio guard Markelle Fultz, the number one pick in last year's draft, is out again with a shoulder injury. Fultz, who was part of the package the 76ers gave up to obtain Kawhi Leonard, is averaging 8 points a game and shooting 28%`from 3. Fultz's agent is optimistic that his client will recover quickly from this injury and get back on the court. Greg Popovich says there is no timetable on his return...

at all the people who wanted to trade for this bum. Facts are that Pop and RC did really good on this deal by snatching Demar. Now let's just get rid of Patty and trade LA

Yes, by saying that the Spurs got the best deal they could for Kawhi and praising RC for it has nothing to do with the Spurs. Good call

The best deal would have been the one that put the Spurs in the best position to tank.

Thanks! The trade was 4 months ago and the season’s nearing a quarter of the way completed. Maybe this post was half relevant in August but Thanksgiving is Thursday. Let’s give this a rest.

Fultz would have been a great move IMO..take the risk on a #1 pick, and if he doesn't improve with a change of scenery, Spurs can tank and get a high lottery pick..

DeRozan was definitely the best deal for Pop/RC's goal, though..he's the only reliable player on the team, they would be the worst in the West without him..

I like the way you phrase that. It's been a whole 16 games (which isnt a lot) but by saying a quarter of a season it makes it sound like more. And this isn't old at all bc there was no way of knowing whether or not we made a good deal until we watched the players play the actual game. That's how it works. So it's still relevant. We dodged a bullet and I'm merely pointing it out to all those arm chair GMs out there.

it's all mental with Fultz though and I don't think Pop would be the best to help him with that. I so agree though that DeRozan is the team this year. He's a lot better than I thought he would be. I feel bad he has to carry LMA`s deadweight

Frankly I don't know anyone who wanted Fultz... maybe someone who was sick and tired of Kiwi's antics and wanted him gone for whatever. I specifically said I didn't want him. He looked like a headcase and a bad gamble last season. I wanted Tatum and picks. Even now, Tatum wouldn't look good on this team bc their best player is DeRozan and I doubt very, very much TAtum could shoulder the team the PATFO put together as well as Derozan has, but that is beside the point.

If you traded for a young player and picks you had to start over with your own version of the process and take a long-term approach while you draft guys and let them develop while building around them once you have your core. That is what Kiwi really did to the franchise. They weren't going to win this trade unless one of those future picks ended up being a franchise player.

They instead went for Demar to stay "compe ive" bc they didn't want to tank and go through the process. They may end up having to tank anyways bc at some point, after over 2 decades of drafting at the end of the 1st round, they just need to fish for talent in the draft again. It lasted a whole lot longer than anyone thought but it's time soon. They have only succeeded in delaying that for a little bit, IMO. Perhaps they get their franchise player in the lottery again, not necessarily in the first few spots since recently some teams have been lucky enough to snag guys out of the top 5 like Kiwi himself, the Greek Freak, Butler etc... it's just tough and you have to ac ulate picks to fish for your guy.

Anyways, I don't think anyone, really anyone thought Fultz was it.

Reports are that Sixers are considering trading Fultz amid shoulder injury, and that Fultz would like a fresh start with a new team. If he gets back to the player he was, he could be a bargain. Would Spurs even consider betting on this guy? Who would you give for Fultz?

At the direction of his attorney, Raymond Brothers, @MarkelleF is scheduled to see a shoulder specialist early next week. Per Brothers, Fultz will not participate in team practices or games until after the the specialist has had a chance to evaluate him.

Not interested, but the Fultz saga is interesting. If he complains of pain or something to explain what's going on with him, you have to legit consider any possibility that he is really injured before concluding he's a hypochondriac or has a mental/emotional disease. There's been a career or two that has been derailed bc a guy couldn't handle the pressure.

I think the Spurs may have entertained at least thinking about this...right up to the point where he started acting like Kawhi. I'm sure they're done with that ish.

Who I'd give for Fultz? White. Or give Belinelli back to the 76ers, in a straight trade.

At least it'd be something new to gripe about.

Mills for Fultz straight up, who says no?

(Other than Pop, because he would never trade his "team leader")
