Didn't he have a meniscus tear in college too?
Yes, that's one of the reasons Pop and the Spurs liked him -- consistency.

Spurs might have to think about getting a new medical staff. I don't know if they missed something, but if they did, they need to take a long, hard look at their medical staff.
Don’t drink the koolaid. To disparage the Spurs medical staff is to come down on the side of Cris Carter and The Group.

Hopefully this doesn't ruin his career like it did Andersons... Get better Lonnie
Anderson didn’t tear his meniscus, he’d had a fractured fifth metatarsal bone, which has ended other careers. Please stop passing incorrect information.

I can't remember exactly, but Ron Artest/Metta World Peace did the quicker option (which I think was to remove the meniscus) when he was playing for the Lakers trying to get back for the playoffs. He was never the same after that and was pretty much done.

I agree that the Spurs should take the long term option if it's possible. I think repairing it is the better way to go. Someone correct me if I am wrong, though.

This really does suck because I wanted to see this kid play more than anyone else on the team.
Metta was old AF and way overweight by the time he got to LA. He was never the same because he was OLD.

Did not know, thought it was the meniscus. Either way it sucks to see him out with this injury.

Still can't believe this dumb doesn't believe we landed on the moon.
Ugh get over it and stop worshiping governments. You don't know that we landed on the moon.

Our medical staff apparently ed over Danny Green too.

Maybe they are incompetent after all.

It's hard not to think the worst long term. Not with this injury specifically, but in general. I knew there had to be a reason a player with all of his obvious attributes was available at 18, beyond his previous meniscus tear and a possible rapid decline around 30. Outside of the top few picks, GM's aren't passing up a player who conceivably or theoretically possesses star potential because of what he might look like 10 years down the line.

Unfortunately, everything probably gets pushed back a season now. He can't be trusted health wise at this point, so they're going to have to find a credible, placeholder 3 and D wing.

There's no reason to believe something just because 'Merica said so. We very well may have landed on the moon. Can we verify that? No. And is our government one to lie about things?

Sad to find Lonnie to be so injury prone!

Ankle injury in Summer League, had to be shut down.
Groin injury first pre-season game. No show.
Shot 100% on 3 out of 3 in 2nd pre-season game. Meniscus tear.

Looks like he needs to be iced for the entire season.

I would red shirt the guy and get him 100% given what has happened to him over the last 1 1/2 years. Perhaps the U of Miami doctors did not take care of everything last year.

Lonnie has a ton of athletic ability even compared to other NBA players. Pop and RC should just be patient - I'm sure they will be careful with him going forward.

Not redshirting but definitely a no-pressure recovery. Absolutely no reason to rush this.

Torn meniscus early in your career?

You'll never be the same again -- just ask Tim Duncan and Russell Westbrook.
Yeah, Westbrook who had multiple surgeries to correct/repair the tear. But, but, but, the Spurs missed this "non - contact/freak injury" so the medical staff should be fired.....

Also, didn't Bertans suffer two ACL tears on the same knee? It has hurt his athleticism, obviously, but he's made it to the NBA and still has room for growth.

    Spurstalk, overreaction central.....

I don't believe it because America said it. I believe it because it would have been harder to fake than to actually do. Did they put the entire moon set inside a vomit comet to simulate the moon's lower gravitational acceleration? Now that would have been impressive.

    LOL conspiri s

That amount of athletic talent isn't going to amount to much if he can't keep healthy.

He's only 19 and he keeps getting injured, something is either wrong with his body or with his training. I suspect it is his training, he's only 19 but has an NBA ready body.

Tiago Splitter was one of those rare fragile Spurs players. Played only 1 full season in 7 seasons.

Leonard's first two seasons, he missed almost 40 games.

That's the problem with a lot of these hot shot high flyers. They think they're invincible and don't have to be smart about how they conduct themselves, day to day; and then a freak injury comes.
What the are you talking about...

ST as usual, act as if what Walker will do this season is minimal, unless he gets injured and then act as if he will be sorely missed.
