    Tough call, imo.

But if I have to choose one or the other, I'd want Patty.

Patty is more important for the regular season; Diaw is more important for the playoffs. That's how I see it, at least.

    Diaw.

Shooters are a dime a dozen. A PF with the passing skills of a point guard is a match-up nightmare.

This is a no brainer IMO.

Diaw. The Spurs can find shooters, they always have. You don't find players with court vision, playmaking ability, and shooting skills everyday. Don't get me wrong, I really hope they find a way to keep Patty.

There are several teams in the league that have a Patty Mills-type player, but players with Diaw's skill set are extremely rare. Both were key to our championship run and I, too, hope they find a way to keep both - but I have to agree with those that say that this is a no-brainer.

Couldn't disagree with you more homie. Diaw's importance is much higher Patty's and I don't even think it's close.

Very high bball IQ and passing over speed and shooting imo. That's not to say Patty isn't important, but we have a better chance of replacing him than we do Bobo.

Diaw. The only thing tough about that choice is that Mills is the best shooter the Spurs have, hands down. Green is the better defender/shooter combo but Mills has a great shot. Great range, beautiful rotation, quick release.

Diaw is a more complete player. He can defend more positions, shoot, dribble, pass and rebound. Mills' defense improved greatly but his size limits him against bigger players.

Diaw. There's less depth in the big man rotation than the perimeter. Diaw's skills are pretty rare - he can take the larger big men off the dribble or post up when a smaller player is guarding him. Gives Spurs a lot of variety and flexibility with who is on the court especially with his playmaking. Very valuable since the league is playing more and more small ball. Loved his aggression this past Finals - just wish he or Pop had used him more last Finals - they could have repeated.

I like patty just as much as the next guy..but c'mon. If he doesn't hit those 3's in the 3rd quarter are we even having this discussion? Diaw hands down.

Diaw all the way, his passing ability and spacing (especially now that we've got Leonard taking a bigger role on offense) for a big man is invaluable. I'd like him to lose a bit of weight, he could easily play PG, that'd be SICK.

Mills is no slouch though, he can explode and knock down some TOUGH shots under pressure, he's willing to pass to anybody which leads to better ball movement, he brings a ton of energy on both sides of the ball as well.

Diaw obviously. There's no realistic replacement that can take his role. I don't even think there's a player of his caliber in the league.

Patty while valuable could be replaced by CoJo, a downgrade but still has his moments.

However, Diaw finally has his ring so I question if he will be as motivated as he was this season. Or will he go back to Diaw 1.0? In that situation, I would take Patty.

Neither. Manu completely destroyed any chance the spurs had of repeating by selfishly choosing to play this summer.
