I mean, let's get this rolling
THANK god. Red Wings may not make the playoffs with the ty defense they have. Ericsson-Kronwall first pairing, I mean are you fcken kidding me
Plus on the other end, Homsrom is retiring; the goalies' worst nightmare
By the way, I just saw Datrsyuk's latest beauty in the KHL; damn, Pavel is my favorite NHL player
Yay.
USA! USA! USA!
holy Darkreign sighting
Well Homer was starting to decline but still a big loss for the PP. Rafalski 2 seasons ago and Stuart leaving last season didn't help. Do have some good prospects in B.Smith, Nyquist and Brunner to build around though.
Red Wings will make the playoffs. They're the Yankees of the NHL.
without icepuck he had no reason to be here
Correct.
An 82 game season with this Wings roster and I would guarantee they make the playoffs.
A 48 game season with this inexperienced roster and I cannot guarantee anything. If Howard plays as well as he was late last year and into the playoffs immediately, they'll make the playoffs. If any struggles from the goaltender(s) and/or gross negligence from inexperienced defense corp, they will not.
Its actually kind of exciting to finally see the Wings get instantly younger in the course of one offseason. Cant say I like the team as contenders, but I like the team in that this organization is finally going to find out what it has in the system from guys who would have been buried in the minors/juniors were the roster as veteran laden as it usually is.
Nyquist, Smith, Tatar, Ericsson in a much bigger role. New cat Brunner. One or two injuries anywhere and you might even see some really fresh faces like Sheahan or Riley, which would be so incredibly un-Red Wing like.
Red Wings = Swedish NT
LA isnt going to be a contender this year, you watch. Quick is outstanding but that team got super-hot at the right time.
I honestly think if Philly can get some above-average goaltending this year, its their year to win it all. Them or NY Rangers.
Canada has no chance at anything. The best team (Vancouver) is going to start incredibly slow and have a lot of friction in that lockerroom what with the Lou debacle hanging over the place. Couple in Kesler's injury and its solely the Sedin show.
Obviously, a short season is a crapshoot. At the 48 game pole last year, iirc, Detroit was #1 in the NHL and Minnesota was, iirc, #3. Fast forward 48 games, the Wild miss the playoffs and the Wings finish #5 in the West and proceed to get their asses handed to them by the Preds in the first round.
Used to be, for sure. I bought a signed photo of all the Red Wing Swedes who won Olympic gold in 2006.
Lidstrom, Samuelsson, Holmstrom, Zetterberg and Kronwall.
ing Rogers / telecom / Maple Laffs entertainment ownership
Re ed firing IMO, right before the season starts ? WTF
I'm thinking that some of the ty teams like the Oilers, Islanders, and Blue Jackets will sneak into the playoffs because of the short season. The short season should definitely help the Stars since they usually start off really good then become average in the middle of the season while crapping out during the last month of the season which results in them missing the playoffs.
CBJ ?
No ing way especially since Nash is gone
Oilers are stacked offensively (Yakupov - Nugent Hopkins - Hall - Eberle, daaamn ), but young
However, they picked the best defensive player in the latest draft
Maybe next year then. I'd just like to see the Stars make the playoffs. It's been a while since they were in the playoffs. I'm tired of the same old with them. They look like they are going to make the playoffs and just crap the out during the last month of the season and it comes down to the last week of the season or the last game and they blow it.
Yeah they look good for a moment and then bam !
When is the damn schedule coming out?
I think its already out
We were the Yanks pre-lockout when we pretty much bought the cup year after year, now we're the Spurs post-lockout with the drafting model.
lmao pretty much this.
It's sad that we've gone from the tough North Americans like Shanahan, McCarty, Maltby, and Chelios to a bunch of soft Euros outside Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Kronwall. At least we got Jordin Tootoo this offseason.
Datsyuk is not that soft ; he is a little tough mother er
And Kronwall soft ?????? what?
to a bunch of soft Euros outside Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Kronwall
of fn course I know Pavs and Kronner are some tough little mofos
