People use 50 million like he’s on a max, it’s like 12 a year, that’s all when the team was going to go through a vacuum. If he gets 10ppg and keeps the team up, then that’s good money.

pretty sure any member on the team would slap anyone for suggesting otherewise.

Glad Kawhi left! He didn't waive his towel or take "frogging" selfies with the guys like Patty does! Who cares about getting 60+ win seasons and WCF appearances if we don't have fun and take time to learn about other cultures!

YAAAAY RC AND POP! In you guys we trust

There are bigger problems than Patty Mills' contract.
    1. Global Warming

    2. Nuclear Proliferation

I think Patty is having his best season in a while. Gasol was also decent before he got hurt.

Whether people want to believe this or not, in sports leaders do matter. There is obviously a point where that does not trump talent, but look at teams like the Wizards that have no leader. All the top paid talent and cant put anything together.

Mills definitely builds bonds with guys, keeps morale high and when the team is going through slumps that type of thing can help them at least not lash out like you see in Washington or on other teams.

Both Aldridge and Kawhi have requested trades within the last two years. Shows what kind of leader that ing scrub is.

Leaders don’t prevent every bad thing from happening. I’m no Mills fan, but he’s a fine leader in the context provided. But he doesn’t hold sway over any star in the league.

It really shows your commitment to winning when the guy you're paying to lead is an unplayable cancer and one of the worst defenders this league has ever seen.

It's okay to be below .500, as long as the "culture" is there. Right?

Surprisingly enough, Mills has been a net positive for the year overall with his strong play as of late. Started out bad, but played pretty well. He has not been the problem. Beli sucks really bad though.

But at the end of the day, SA needs LMA/DeMar to play all-star caliber.

Kawhi is such a bad leader that the second he got taken out against the Warriors, the team blew a 15+ point lead in a matter of 3 minutes. It's almost like, don't freak out on me, the leader of the god damn team went down and everyone was running around like headless chicken. Do the Spurs end up with a worse record if Patty is deported to Australia? No, and if you think otherwise you are delusional.

Crater face can try and save face on why he handed Mills that contract, but we all know his shot at Kawhi is bull and it reeks of saltiness. HE was the one that fluffed him up as the next Duncan. HE was the one that said two years ago other stars don't go all out on both sides like Kawhi does. If Kawhi was still a Spur those comments would've never blurted out of his mouth. He's butthurt and he knows it.

Mills is okay for what he really is. He's a backup shooting guard, and a 3 pt specialist, for use in limited minutes, in certain situations, where you can tolerate what he gives up defensively. I don't keep up with contract prices for the NBA in general, but maybe he'd be worth 5 or 6 million on a one year contract, with possibly some sort of option. When the team dropped him, as it inevitably would, he'd rattle around a little, and end up in China.

That's all Mills really is, and players like that are never ordinarily seen as team leaders. They are hangers-on. The fact that Pop would call such a player a leader means the team is seriously dysfunctional, or there's something else going on.

Great point. Pop's recent delusional comments just reassure us that they have stopped caring about winning and just want to collect paychecks and avoid locker room drama. The Spurs are no different than the Mavs now. JJ Barea is their Patty Mills.

Pop doesn't give one . He doesn't berate refs anymore. He doesn't bench players like Forbes and Beli when they chuck the dumbest of shots like he did a decade ago. He lets Aldridge play his inefficient style. He doesn't adjust to modern 3-pt basketball. It's paycheck collecting time now that generational talents like Duncan and Kawhi are no longer here to carry his mediocre built rosters.

"System player" or "damaged goods" succeeding away from the plantation with a rookie head coach. Who would've thought. Gotta stop that MVP case At. All. Costs.
