Maybe he means top-rated at that point in the draft? Or maybe they have more than just the five standard positions? It just seems weird to have him over Barrett or Culver and all the guys picked just after those guys. Maybe RC is a liar, but if he's not, it makes me feel better. The Spurs legit liking a player is enough for me. Still wish he were taller though. Even just 6-6 without shoes would have been enough to give me confidence.

I think we drafted solid if you look at each value. It’s not sexy, but we got a very skilled big man in Samanic. I hardworking defender in Johnson, and solid scorer in Weatherspoon with over 40% shooting 3’s. I think ST has delusion of drafting a Draymonf, Butler so when we get solid rotation guys, we’re disappointed, including myself.

RC must mean top-rated at that point in the draft - otherwise why would they have not taken him at 19?

He definitely means “one of” the top rated guys at his position. Lmao at everyone freaking out over the 29th pick

What does it matter what that quote means?? We literally had no shot at all at Barrett, Culver, hunter

They had Samanic higher overall. RC seems to consider Luka a PF only, so he's not in the same ranking as Johnson. If that's true, PF was the position of need and SF was just a luxury pick with a decent amount of depth already.

It matters a lot. If Buford literally thinks Johnson is a better prospect than those guys, maybe it means he is. Imagine if the Spurs did manage to draft the next Jimmy Butler rather than the relatively meh guy it looks like they've picked.

I think that this is the pick that will pay most dividends. I’m not saying Luka won’t pay off but I think at 29 he is going to be viewed as a big time steal.

Hearing RC comments makes me feel that way even more.

How Keldon Johnson became top rated by the Spurs.

PATFO was looking at the list of possibilities. A question arose.

"Now, this kid, Keldon J, is there any chance he'll ever give us the same kind of storm mess that Kawhi caused?"

" , no. There is no chance he'll ever be good enough that we'll care at all if he leaves."

"Great! Move him to the top of the list!"

Not a high ceiling, probably needs a year in Austin but he's a pretty solid pick. Don't know if he's ever a starter, though. I like that he's an off the ball player, which works well next to White, Murray and even Walker
    Agreed 100%!

If he develops into a solid 3 point shooter and gets in shape he will fun to watch. People did not think much of Derrick White either, but look at him now.

FWIW, nba draftnet thinks he can be a potential All-Star and they had him as a lottery pick back in April.

Yeah, I did look at White and last time I saw him, I saw his ass benched in favor of Mills in a Game 7. That said, I like this pick.

Didn't RC call Jack McClinton the best shooter in the draft, in the draft that featured Steph Curry?

If RC was selling the Brooklyn Bridge, would you buy it?

You do realize this is the same clown shoes GM who said during a press briefing after trading away Luis Scola that he didn't think his game translated well to the NBA.
