The PS5 UI got a nicely done overhaul. A lot cleaner now.
So there is a Hogwarts Legacy State of Play tomorrow at 4PM CST. Game looks interesting graphically but don't know what else to expect out of it.

Big rumor about a PSVR 2 showcase in the next few weeks. Wish they'd hurry up and show this as I want to get a VR headset. If it wasn't for the Quest 2 forcing a Facebook account prob would have bought one already.
You can't make a fake account or not use your own personal info? If not that really sucks
Eh. I went through a big VR phase, and got both the PSVR and an Occulus 2. Graphically, we're just not there. You'll be immediately impressed, but the novelty wears off quick. There aren't games that really make it worth it -- outside of maybe Squadrons, but the graphical drop off from console to headset is too great. I know there are rumors about PSVR2 having 4k/OLED screens, but I dunno. It just doesn't seem worth it to me - and I wish it was.

In their ToS Facebook can make you submit photo ID if they think your account is using a fake name. And in setup you have to use the Facebook app from a phone or tablet with geolocation services turned on. The whole point of the Quest is so they can mine data from you to sell.

I can’t think of any other use for these. The games for this aren’t even full flesh games. They’re more like demos.
Gotta give it to them though, I thought this fad would die out pretty quickly but it has managed to scrape by all these years.
RE4 looks pretty cool in VR, but Quest 2 only. As does RE7, but PSVR only. Have heard the Ace Combat 7 VR is pretty awesome too. Then the Star Wars Squadrons is also supposed to be great. Though the killer game for VR is supposed to be Half Life Alyx. I'll be so pissed if I wait for PSVR 2 only to have that not get a port.
I have a Quest 2, which is mostly for my kids to play around with, and I have to echo what everyone else is saying. It's still pretty gimmicky at this point. I don't think I've played it a single time without sweating my ass off (because of the mask) and getting dizzy within the first ten minutes or so. But then aren't many games worth playing longer than that anyway.

I have the Occulus as well, too bersome and grainy. Yeah the initial VR experience is cool.
I want to create a clear mask and call it super high res VR, it's like you're actually walking around in your own home.
Not sure how much you are following the UKR-RUS war, but I have been reading some interesting things about native RUS computer chip capacity.
Russia does not make computer chips more sophisticated than what went into a Playstation 2, and even then in very small amounts. No one will sell them anything, and even if they did, the largest shipping companies in the world have stopped servicing their ports.
Think about the implications of that. A modern economy trying to run on a tiny amount of 20 year old chips.
No new cell-phones.
No new missile guidance systems.
No new fire control radars.
No replacement boards for cell phone towers.
No replacement boards for air traffic control computers.
etc... etc... etc...
Mind boggling.
So Playstation 5 VRR is a turd, as expected. Only HDMI 2.1 support, no FreeSync, and the vrr support only goes down to 48Hz if the game isn't explicitly coded to support low framerate compensation. What a show, FreeSync on PC and XBox support vrr down to 40Hz.

48hz is the limit even if the game supports VRR natively, and that's a limit on the HDMI spec. Dunno why they don't take the plunge on FreeSync, tbh...

Wouldn't doubt it, though I did read that panels that do true 120Hz do have a low frequency limit that's around that area (40hz-48hz), and it's up to the TV processors to upscale the frequency on inputs with lower rates.
FreeSync doesn't require a minimum 40Hz range though, there are plenty of FreeSync panels with a 48Hz minimum. I think GSync's standard range is usually 30Hz to 144Hz though. But another reason I say Sony just wants to sell TVs instead of support people on monitors is their refusal to support 1440p output.

PS5 is still a to get for MSRP. Really nice hardware though, it's like a Ryzen 7 3700X and an RX 6600XT together with a fast as 800GB PCIE-4.0 SSD and a first rate controller for $500. Ugly as though.

Make sure to wait and not spend the gift cards until the new service launches in June that's supposed to have a library of well over 400 playstation games.
I think those are PSN cards strictly for buying games, not cards that can be applied to PS Plus.
