it's basically a Nathan89 post
last time Darrin went full derp and demanded we define it for him.
it's basically a Nathan89 post
Not sure they're 'tearing the country apart'... it's more like they're tearing a new asshole on racists like him.
large grant for Silent Sam, pink slip for tenure nominee.
is this cancel culture?
until the woke mob arrived, the teaching of history and life sciences in Texas was ideologically neutral and factually objective. it never was politicized until a few minutes ago.
Basically, Republicans want to dictate the teaching of US history excluding the ideology that was there at the founding (3/5ths rule,) and to ignore the atavism of the same with Jim Crow, and the backlash against civil rights and voting rights in the 1960s, when racism allegedly ceased in the US.
And that leaves out the racist massacres of 1917-1930. Some of those survivors are still alive..
College can cover everything. I doubt grade school kids in different regions learned about the California missions like we did.
the war against wokism is the same moral panic as:
secular humanism
multiculturalism
political correctness
cultural Marxism
Critical Race Theory
all are more or less amorphous culture war catchalls for social change undesirable to conservatives, but especially for racial equity and fairness.
It was Ben Shapiro, right?
it was reportedly some non-student rando. maybe?
before "cultural marxism" they just called it "cultural bolshevism"

the Cold War is over, but the cultural DNA of Bircherism lives on, to take a US example.
modern day Know Nothings, plus resentment of social equality for putative lessers, i.e., non-whites.
There is a reason why this stuff doesn't exist anywhere else on Planet Earth. Kinda how putting stuff up the ass is popular here.
Neither is peculiar to the US.
CRT is a spin off of Critical Theory which was brought over from Europe - Frankfurt School.
thanks for underscoring my point
CRT belongs and has many truths. Maybe by design, manipulation or ignorance; it is used to draw parallels or even put into question instutions today. Heck even entire races. At that point it is dangerous.
Another pitfall is it obsessed with white skin. Everything circles back to white people. Even when the scenario doesn't include them.
Sorry talking about racism hurts your feelings, I personally don't consider that socially dangerous.
Racism is a feeling. Everyone has different thresholds and mental stability. Thus racism is in the eye of the beholder. Like judging art.
people aren’t saying it should be dogma. Banning an entire field out of some weird paranoia is just stupid
that sounds like a culture war catchall based on lies and disinfo to me
cynical twistification and obliviousness to their own rules was a motif this last session, hope the lege gets its together in the special session.
