Star Trek - 8.5/10
Infant brains are easily entertained.
So did the movie miss Fitzgerald's whole point, as some reviews have said.
Star Trek 5.5/10
A lot of you will like it more.
Liked the set up, 1st half of the movie was very good imo.
Overdone drawn out climax and overdone mindless violence sunk it for me.
Outstanding SFX tho.
is this sequel that continues on from movie 1? or another story?
You know, I read those reviews but don't really get them -- it's not like Luhrman changed the plot or anything. Of course he is going to focus hard on the parties and glamor, you simply have to spend the time and money on that to set up the bleakness of the ending. One reviewer ed about the emphasis on the glitz then ed about how it went away in the second hour -- well WTF did you think was going to happen?
There were some parts that were terribly hamfisted to be sure, and the bleakness and truth of it all was mostly reserved for Nick after the fact in a way that felt like a rerun of Moulin Rouge! -- but I can't think of a better way to work in the prose from Nick's narration. Of course that was overdone too, with actual words floating on the screen just in case we didn't know they were profound, but again -- this is what you're getting into with Luhrman.
Watched Cloud Atlas again and still dont know wtf happen/it's about
confused/10
Iron Man 3 - 7/10
Star Trek Into Darkness - 9/10
Stark Trek Into Darkness - 3/10
It really sucked.
Just watched 21 Jump Street. I guess there will be a 22 Jump Street.
Side Effects 7/10
pretty good and entertaining. i was worried about it until the Jude Law kept digging. there's something about Rooney Mara that makes her attractive to me and i'm not much for pale waifs.
Cloud Atlas : 8/10 - I really liked it.
Jack Reacher : 7/10 - I was surprisingly entertained.
Pain & Gain - 3.5/10
Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance
Started watching Park Chan Wook's vengeance trilogy last night. All 3 movies are on Netflix.
I'm not going to grade the first one because I was left confused as about what went on. redzero you probably seen these films. Fill me in. lol
I thought the younger guy was the one seeking the revenge so where did that other guy came from and why did he kidnnaped the girl?
Serious inception moment here.
I don't see what's hard to understand. Young, deaf guy kidnaps the daughter of the businessman to get ransom money for his sister's operation. Daughter dies accidentally, sister kills herself, businessman kills deaf guy and deaf guy's girlfriend, and deaf guy's girlfriend's friends kill businessman.
The End.
Meh Sympathy for Mr Vengeance was average I thought. Certainly nowhere near as good as other Korean films I've seen. I Saw the Devil was awesome
The back and forth confused me.
At first I thought they were going to the past and present between the young and old guy.
I Saw the Devil wasn't really THAT awesome imho. it was a 7/10.
Gon watch FF6 tomorrow, I'll tell ya how it goes.
sorry it wasn't awesome but i thought it was a quality, above average film
Oldboy 8.5/10
Great movie, ed up ending.
so I'm hearing from literally everywhere and everyone who saw Hangover 3 that it sucked hard. seeing as how I fell asleep during the first one and ignored the 2nd one, I won't be seeing the 3rd. someone be a guinea pig, go watch it, and give a non biased report.
That's My Boy - 2/10
What a horrible movie. It wasn't very funny, and I was disappointed.
Fast and the Furious 6= 7.5/10. The story was shallow but the ending makes up for some of it. For me, Fast and the Furious 5 was way better, Fast 5 was around 8.5-9.
