Needless to say, Darrin is a ing idiot. I wish he were the betting type because he's wrong 100% of the time. It would be such easy money.

If Osterholm has been consistently right the most, then I'd say DarrinS of ST is on the other end of that spectrum.

I think a certain amount of fear was warranted in the early months of the pandemic. Doctors and scientists have a much better understanding of the disease now and how to treat patients. Its also known now that a substantial fraction of the population has pre-existing cross immunity from exposure to similar viruses. Lock downs hurt the poor disproportionately.
That's actually not proven yet, it's a running theory, but there hasn't been studies large enough to corroborate. Same with people getting the virus twice.

We all hope things are rosier, tbh. We also hope the theory that the virus weakens as it replicates also holds.

It's just simply irresponsible to make general decisions affecting millions of people based on early data like that. That's why we apply certain amount of rigor in approving medical treatments of all sorts.

Sorry your mom doesn't want to be locked up, I don't think anybody wants to. The problem isn't with people not wanting to be locked up, the problem is with those people getting infected and spreading the virus around, especially to other elderly people.

Her 79 y.o. boyfriend died on Oct. 11 of cancer. Yeah, that's still a thing. But, the man was 79. I think that's close to average life expectancy for men.

I will say, that our local leaders, who are not Republican, have done a great job with this epidemic.

Which regions are out of fuel, Darrin?

    Be specific.

First it was out of fuel everywhere by the end of April, but now he's trying to say out of fuel in some regions as if that's any better, and as if cases aren't ing everywhere right now.

    Dumbass Darrin

I wear a mask in the drive through too in case I'm an asymptomatic carrier. The workers wear one to protect me at the window, you'd have to be a major asshole to not reciprocate to protect them. Which you are based on all your kicking and screaming about wearing one inside convenience stores to protect the guy at the register.

This we're at herd immunity crap Karrin is pushing is nuts. If the herd immunity threshold was as low as Karrin claims Europe wouldn't be seeing cases blowing up right now the way they have. Italy, France, and Spain are all nations hit extremely hard early on and now being hit even worse. And he wants to push this crap about people having built-in immunity to being infected a novel virus because they got a cold before?

My dad died in July. Not Covid, he was 91 years old. That's probably above average life expectancy. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything though.

I don't know anybody that wants to die, even if they're objectively due under whatever standard. Certainly, I don't think anybody wants to be that one guy that infected another at-risk person and then that person dies.

Unless you don't have a conscience or are so shallow not to give a about anything. Then I guess it doesn't matter.

it’s thinking they are old anyway, so why not just die of Covid

we all are going to die, so maybe it’s Covid that does it... you are going to die somehow, just another way to die

meanwhile, let’s not screw up the economy

While this is true and I obviously agree, it's not exclusive to COVID. The seasonal flu kills plenty, and the numbers game we play with our own susceptibility doesn't take into account how we might infect others.
