Get the out
By waiving him, do they pay him anything on the old contract as opposed to announcing his retirement?
No wonder it’s raining like crazy even God is crying.
He gets the money for this season as a thank you and "parting gift". Technically, if he "retired" they wouldn't have to pay him. The way it would likely work is that he announces that he's retiring, but by mutual agreement and by plan, he never drops any kind of official paperwork for retirement. The Spurs waive his guaranteed contract, and he gets paid.
Shame they couldn't find a way to use his contract to bring back a decent player. Good that they didn't stretch him.
The guy didn't play a single game in the preseason. It was about time. ing bum.
Scrub just couldn’t crack the rotation...
Manu's fart can produce more on the court than Forbes can on his best day, tbh.
Thanks for the memories, Manu! You were one of a kind and will always be loved in San Antonio, South Texas and by Spurs fans all over the world.
You are the definition of a winner and of one who gave his all. I salute you!
TOR will claim him off waiver
He was a bad dude. #MuchRespect
I've seen manu farts block Dikembe Mutombo once.
Should've been waived 6 seasons ago. Should've been deported 2 years ago.
Pop has been threatening to do this for 15 years and he finally did it!
That's not certain. Stretching also requires that you waive the player.
Nah. Can't stretch after 9/1
Thanks, that's what i thought. The Spurs have always taken care of players that meant something to the team, quietly and without a lot of promotion. I remember when they brought Johnny Moore back from his bout with desert fever when he needed some games under his belt to retire with the NBA pension. He stunned everyone with a first game that brought back memories of past glories, but he was clearly unable to perform for a season. I think they even picked up somebody once from the free agent ranks who also needed a contract to retire. Spurs owners and FO have always been a class act and have earned respect around the league for their business decisions that show some heart.
manu still stealing from spurs
