Yeah, I know it's bleacher report, but here's their conclusions on who to keep and who to cut:

    Jeff Ayres: Cut

    Reggie Williams: Cut

    Matt Bonner: Cut

    Aaron Baynes: Keep

Cory Joseph: Keep (at up to 5 million per, otherwise cut)

    Marco Belinelli: Cut

    Kawhi Leonard: Keep

    Danny Green: Keep

    Manu Ginobili: Keep

    Tim Duncan: Keep

    Slow newsday, I know.

Lists like this are stupid because price matters.

The three on that list I could disagree with are Baynes, Joseph, and Beli.

I also can't see CoJo getting anything near 5 mil per, whether from the Spurs or somewhere else.

Cojo is overrated around here tbh, his block on Ibaka notwithstanding.

    Replace Belli with Shved

    Replace Ayers with Jaberko

Trade Cojo in draft for a Minni 2nd

Re Up Bonner for vet min as a holding pattern for when Bretans comes

Round out roster with 1st rounder, and LCJ

I think mills and his shooting has more trade value. Plus Joseph is not under contract to trade

I do... I would like to package splitter, mills, the rights to hanga, and cash considerations to boston for their second first rounder number 28 and their first second rounder #35. Boston has 5 draft picks so they would still have 3 picks, but they pick up 2 veterans that could really help them out and make them better in the weak east. Hanga is an athletic defender they can try to bring over too.

The spurs now get picks 26, and 28 in round 1. And picks 33 and 55 in round 2.

It's a tough call on Joseph vs Belinelli. No way the Spurs can afford to pay both with Leonard on a $15 million contract and Green on a $10 million one. Assuming Manu retires, it boils down to how comfortable they are with Kyle Anderson running the offense for the second unit. If so, take Marco for the shooting. If not, you gotta have Joseph for his ballhandling.

Trading Splitter only makes sense if they're really confident in landing Aldridge.

i wouldnt mind a sign and trade for aldridge with Tiago....its an option, a far fetched one, but seriously Tiago has been a liability, i know he was playing hurt, but even before that, he reminds me of a rasho 2.0

Not gonna happen, Portland isn't going to let Aldridge walk if they have leverage, and they would, since the Spurs wouldn't be able to sign him outright without renouncing Green.

I agree. The opening of monies by trading these two. That is the idea.

A decent big will be the end of Splitter, CoJo, and Green. Could see sign and trades if Matthews gets too pricey for Portland.

Trading Tiago makes sense this year. Lineups with him and Tim + Kawhi/Tony taking primarily midrange shoots have always seemed dubious to me. If Pop really wants to make Kawhi into the next Charles Barkley (which to me seems laughably stupid but I digress) then you basically have to play him with at least 1 stretch big most of the time.

However, after this year when TD retires Tiago would certainly be missed. He's an extremely heady player on both ends that enables a lot of what we do offensively, is a dynamic defender, and is a low usage player who lets everyone else have touches. I would be extremely wary of trading him unless you have an agreement in place with Gasol/Aldridge or you can move WAY up in the draft to target a 100% sure thing.

First few minutes is exactly what I'm talking about with Splitter. Whether via screen, cut, or with the ball at the top of the key, he has a hand in almost every play. This is the definition of "doing the little things", and you can't teach a lot of this stuff.

Not me, the Spurs would have an awful backcourt with no Green and no Ginobili.

He dunked on Ibaka not blocked but honestly I agree 100% on him being overrated around here. He is a backup PG and some act as if he can start the whole year for the team. He is average with some good D, offense he is not that good IMO. When he comes in the O stalls it seems.

I agree with you 100%, he is a key to this team. If he can just stay healthy man.
green doesnt command that kind of money, he plays good defense, and most likely is a product of our system........he didnt show up at all in the playoffs when we needed him to......in a contract year he fizzled......maybe after last years performance he might have deserved a pay out...but this year, not so much
I agree with you, he didn't show up this year in the playoffs until game 7 (Right time to show up but too late). He is about a 8-9 mill a year guy max IMO, with the new cap and all coming up.
