    Pops boyfriend quote:

"...the Spurs, they’re not going to win a championship." "Pop will be the first to tell you that."

Spurs news: Gregg Popovich's thoughts about San Antonio, per Steve Kerr (clutchpoints.com)
Not if you ask... literally...anyone else first. Is this a lack of faith by a coach or someone who has eyesight? You know, I wouldn't be surprised if he retired and gave Becky the job. Yes, GAVE her the job. There are better choices available out there but he's just the type of dude to giver her the keys and say "Go". This team isn't going to win, what's there to really lose?

On the other hand, the gig pays him a lot of $$, he might be able to secure the all-time wins record and he doesn't have to answer to any sort of media push back. Not bad. Yeah, he'll probably come back for 1 more.

Looks like the boys in The Desert not only agree with Pop, that this team isn't le contenders this coming season,
but they are betting that the Spurs will only win around 28 games, making the Spurs to be one of the worst teams in the league for the 2021-2022 season. Hmmm... This would be the perfect opportunity to fire up the tank and get it rolling! But I think that this team has a scrappy compe ive spirit in them and they will win more than 28 games though. Eh, perhaps around 33 to 35 wins next season(?). I can see this team loosing a lot of close compe ive games. It will be interesting to see which youngin will step up to be the go to closer in close games. GSG!!!

Hopefully Kerr takes the coaching reigns on the Spurs once Pop retires, tbh

If the Spurs had won 26 games last year, the number Pop needs for the record, the would have been slotted 9th for the draft lottery drawing.

    Pop spoke the truth.

Spurs aren't contenders this year. The FO has finally accepted the rebuild.

What the else do you want him to say?

Like the Spurs are the first, or last, organization attempting to delay the inevitable. Get over yourself, man.

And tanking sooner doesn't guarantee that you'll be back in contention sooner. Look at Minnesota, Sacramento and - prior to this season - Phoenix as examples of that.

Apparently, the 2022 draft class is also loaded, so they can potentially come away with a generational talent/foundational piece next June too.

Other organizations have squandered people and resources so the Spurs wasting them was also good.
    Viva la Pop!

    Good question.
Must factor in whether Popped had a private arrangement with Bryn prior to the public announcement.
    Terms are still hidden.

Not every NBA team has a next year goal of winning a championship. If they did 31 of them would always be short of their goal. They have more reasonable goals like player development and conditioning.
