That was the case until the balls were juiced. Now HRs are a dime dozen. Even the Royals had a guy who won HR king. The game radically changed the last few years. And quit jinxing my football team. Your predictions have been proven to be garbage.

I would start Keuchel game1 regardless but especially since Soroka is so dominant on the road, that moves him to start the pivotal rubber match. Folty kinda stole the 3rd spot from Fried late in the season, Fried a bit too hot or cold. We'll definitely see him against the Dodgers

I have a big pub day planned for Monday (Game 4) so selfishly hoping the series stretches that far and Braves close it out. I wouldn't be surprised if the series goes 5.

I think Twins vs Yanks will be the 2nd best DLS.

Flaherty starting game 2 and 5 if necessary. I don't think any team would want to face Flaherty in an elimination game so Braves would want to wrap it up before then

Go Moneyball. Their closer Hendriks is an Aussie

Saw the Wombat. He looked good in closing the losing effort.

Cardinals vs Braves should be a great series. I'm going with Cardinals due to the team having more experience.

St. Louis continues their devil magic bull , breaking hearts, per par. Series is going 5. Big win for the Dodgers. Needed it going against Strasburg and Scherzer back-to-back.

    Turning point

    2 run lead
    6 outs remaining
Reliever hurt before throwing a pitch

Next pitcher surrenders home run to first hitter.

10 straight Game1 lost (MLB record)

30 straight playoff games without a series lead (tied-MLB record with 1911-21 Giants)

Some ty luck mixed with Cardinals "Devil magic."

Carpenter bloop: Luck, like shooting a desperation 3 and banking it in.

^, though they had a free swinger in Ozuna 0-2. Cervelli should've called a bouncing curve or fastball away out of the zone rather than the 12-6 bowling ball.

    Strong breakdown MP

    Braves choked

But honestly only had the lead because of surprisingly sloppy Cardinal defense. Snitker went to the bullpen too early and it really blew up in his face when Martin went down on the mound before even throwing a pitch to start the 8th

I dunno why he took out Fried to begin with after his dominating 7th. I guess it was to have him ready to start Game4 but as it turns out Martin is now OUT, Teheran IN and Julio might start Game 4. Zzz zzz

Cardinals hit well for most of the game after the 3rd Inning and Braves a team led by its offense was let down by its lack of hitting

I'll always remember Game1 as the Acuna game. How often does a player manage to piss off the opponent AND anger his own teammates in the same game. His imprint was all over this game with homer/double, thrown out stealing, diving catch and doubled up at 2nd. Oh yah and his jogging likely cost the Braves a 4-1 lead heading into that pivotal 8th inning

Cardinals played sloppy but Braves played dumb.

Probably because the managers fear the calculator heads in the FO coming down on them if they stay with the starter instead of "going with the analytics" and it backfires. Acuna was brilliant aside from that baserunning faux pas. Flaherty is going to be tough. I'm rooting for you (not because of matchup purposes, but the bull the Cardinals pull off in the playoffs is irritating. Pocket of full miracles at all times).

That is exactly what some fans said. Analytics told him too.

What if Braves win Flaherty's start but Cards come right back to take Soroka's?

Saw a stat from 2017 - DLS history winner of Game1 has advanced 72% of the time. Legit expected closer to 77%

Yah I still give Braves close to a coin flip chance in the series but that "here we go again" is alive & well. The stadium seemed really tense.

I'd be nervous if I'm Atlanta. Flaherty is bound to have a bad start at some stage but he's been on fire lately. Don't want to lose the first two games in a 5 game series

Small ball still wins in the playoffs, or at least low strikeout rate teams. Only like 3 teams that were above the league average in strikeouts have won the WS over the last 20+ years

Snitker making bad decisions here. You pinch run for McCann there with Hamilton and have him try to steal. If he succeeds, then you pinch hit. Two outs here, just bat foltynewicz and keep him in the game
