If you're really 6-2, 280, and in your 60's, then you probably have beetus and heart failure--and a small window left to live.
Ignoring the Avante bull , the two questions you ask get at completely different things.
I think it's generally good to be comfortable and confident and happy with who you are no matter your size. I'd never advocate that people who don't fit our strict and largely unrealstic beauty ideals should feel ugly or hate themselves. If you can look in the mirror, be happy with what you see, AND be realistic about the fact that not everyone has to be into it (that goes for skinny people, too, since I find fit girls who think they're god's gift to men to be every bit as annoying as chunky girls who maybe think they're a bit cuter than they are), then more power to you.
However, I do not necessarily support the at ude that self-esteem/self-acceptance should also morph into the thought that being overweight/obese is a good or healthy choice. Because it's not. It's not evil. It's not disgusting. It's not in any way worthy of the vitriol and ridicule it receives. But neither is it a sign of empowerment to take pride in being out of shape.
In an ideal situation, there would be a motivation to get healthy without a component of shame and self-loathing.
