I guess my main question is can government limit itself? Defense and infrastructure I do believe fall into their realm of responsibility. Social programs are good to a point but when does a help up become a hand out? Prisons should be for those that truly can't reform. I suppose it's a fine line.
IMO, you're asking is very much opinion, and frankly we live in a country where both parties want big government, they just want it in different areas.

ie: Democrats want big government in social programs, climate change, military spending, etc. Republicans want big government in religion/abortion, social media, military spending, etc.

Ultimately, who you send to Congress, that has the power of the purse, dictates which flavor of big government we get.

Stupid oversimplification that leaves no room for discussion on individual topics where government might be good, versus where government might be bad. This is exactly how the conservative elite wants you to understand politics. Stop being so ing stupid.

    • Generally speaking, no. I do not like big government. Government is a necessary evil - but the bigger it get's, the more corrupt and ridiculous it gets.

I prefer to live (raise family) with Big Government but people have to be like minded.

Imo, our cons ution attempts to limit government (checks and balances, individual rights) but alas, government does not - POWER/human nature.
