    - He commanded the spurs beautifully this series.

    - He allowed Kawhi and others to blossom

    - He never let his lack of offensive production get into his defensive game

In this series, Tony has shown that he can lead the spurs and be a great leader..I have no doubt in my mind that he would play a role in Kawhi's development next year..

Seeing him raise "The hand" gesture, and just seeing him so happy with Kawhi's FMVP..

Tony, the most unappreciated spur of all time...Thank you.

Parker had an overall solid PO run tbh

From Mavs serie, he defended extremely well, being able to keep up with Lillard and Westbrook on the D end has been huge for Spurs Defense, on the offensive he has got some clutch 4th quarters and shots, the attention he drew on Offense enabled team mates to blossom. He also led the team and was always vocal during time outs. He had a load of hockey assists during the whole POs.

He was not at last year level but he accepted it and played accordingly. He has been a key part of Spurs run this year.

I think he will come back strong next year after a whole summer of rest.

His defensive effort on Lebron was a great snapshot of what he brought. the only thing i could complain about a little was settling for a few too many outside shots to try to get it going but even then that was mixed in with a few drives where he tried to draw contact. He did a great job leading as Pop and other posters have pointed out.

Tony was clearly bothered by his Round 1 / Round 3 injury... he didn't have the explosive speed we know he has... It's funny that the commentators kept giving LeBron the defensive credit without acknowledging that Parker essentially played the entire Finals on ~75% of his speed...

Thanks TP! Agree with the OP.

He's stepped aside, allowing Kawhi to blossom. It's arguably the best move that made the miracle 5 happened.

    That's a grown man move by apalisoc_9.

It was incredible to see how happy everyone was for Kawhi when he was announced as MVP. And right in the middle of it was Tony.

It's the NBA finals, everyone is banged up. Lebron perhaps was hurt. Wade couldn't do , just a trashy old .

Parker is hurt, and maybe more Spurs were not completely 100%.

    Champions play through the pain!

I was a little disappointed in Tony's performance last night but wondering if his injury was bothering him. However, with Kawhi in foul trouble in the fourth Tony stepped on it and kept the Spurs foot on the throat of Miami. and all of a sudden he's in double digits. yeah.

Admittedly, I have never been a Tony fan. And even in this series there were times I was gritting my teeth. But, I think he had something of a turning point here. It was like he had one of those "Ah-Ha" moments. That ball movement made a believer out of a lot a people. I think Tony might have taken away more from these finals than anyone else.

Plus, his after game interviews showed a much more relaxed and "I'm over myself" side of Tony. I actually liked him. Not that it matters much what I think...lol

he was amazing against portland... carved them up and defended well. and yes, he kept the ball moving against miami. i know some will call it "stat padding" but he kept the game on ice in the 4th during the championship closeout

This. He has got to learn when his hero balling is hurting vs when it is helping. 0-10 to start? He got blocked once at the rim and started jacking up jumpers... Lucky for him Mills was and Manu bailed him out...

I'm still not convinced Parker was playing at 100%. He rarely showed the burst of speed or athleticism that we have become accustomed to seeing over the past few seasons. It's very possible he was limited still by has calf and ankle injuries.

That being said, he did exactly what he needed to do: played the decoy, ran the offense, distributed the ball, and chipped in scoring when necessary (including some clutch threes).

More admirable than Parker putting up 30, tbh.

I love both players, but I'm from SA so I don't understand the hate between manu and tony ' s.
