Not really. Trump was a presidential candidate, not a congressman from a deep red or deep blue district. AOC’s Republican counterpart is Louie Gohmert, and he says stuff dumber than “Defund the police” on a daily basis.
It’s a problem that Republicans have managed to mind Democrats into thinking “Defund the police” is just as extreme and dangerous as white supremacy is. Centrist Dems are more angry with AOC for not being more vocal opposing Defund the Police than they are Republicans for believing climate change is a hoax.
Like it or not AOC is MUCH higher profile than Ghomert, and Louie doesn't hurt Republicans at all.
"Defunding" is a losing proposition forever and all Democrats need to kill it.

I just gave you ample of examples from defunding the police to abolishing ICE so articulate that. When Trump and the entire republican party make their platform on law and order and immigration, yes, talking about abolishing ICE hurts. I always try to keep an open mind and see what the outlook is beyond my own state. Turns out you actually need candidates to fit their mold within their district to suceed. as for just one example, Bernie would have wiped the floor with Dennison. Absolutely waxed him. People hate Democrats because they don't fight, not for ing slogans or policy. And it’s because party leadership is both weak and has no interest in advancing the popular progressive policies like climate change reform and a $15 minimum wage. That’s why AOC goes on twitter and makes an ass of herself with impunity, Schumer/Pelosi/Perez are perfectly fine with being able to use her as a scapegoat for losing elections and she’s undisciplined enough to let them.
Dianne Feinstein made it pretty clear where establishment Dems stand on progressive issues. She was a condescending towards climate change activists who wanted her to support climate change reform, but she couldn’t have been more accommodating and weak when Lindsey Graham want cram Handmaid Barrett through committee. She doesn’t have the excuse that Joe Manchin has, she’s in the most liberal state in the country but gives the finger to progressives more than she gives it to conservatives.

Democrats aren't mobilized by anything Gohmert does or says. Republicans are definitely triggered by AOC. That's just how political celebrity works. She needs to realize she's not Gohmert. The only dream candidate has been Obama. All Democrats need to stop sucking.
