Let's not kid ourselves here. The NBA would fold up shop if every team started playing like the 2014 Spurs where there was a lot of ball movement and no real standouts. We saw in these playoffs how teams would do better when their star was out, sharing the ball and everyone getting plenty, the defense doesn't know who to guard and people involved on offense get involved on defense. But we know the NBA is a superstar driven league, players sell merchandise because Americans like heroes, not teams. This is why fans follow players instead of teams. Just look at many of the Lakers fans here who came post Pau, who were Kobe this or Kobe that, nary a Pau in their names. The NBA knows this and so even at the threat of losing, the franchises will put their star back on the floor and force the ball through them. Without them, we might see some real basketball.
A healthy Greg Oden would have become a dominant force in the NBA.
