Did H‑E‑B call in this pick so they could market him with their Primo Picks they’ve been pushing?

Man, GSW has Kuminga, Moody, and Wiseman 20 yr Old and younger. Their rebuild looks better than 90% of the NBA obviously including the spurs and they're still contending for a championship in the process.

My goodness, they had a great draft.

Rick Barry said someone must have ed the nachos in San Antonio when they picked Alfredrik the Great, so seems like he was expected to bust.
just think, we could have had a Joe Dumars/Alvin Robertson backcourt.....just sick

Leave it to the Rockets, who knew Scola was damn good while the Spurs were complete idiots, to get Sengun.

-A scout who is employed by an agent says he's 100% convinced Quentin Grimes would be taken at 41 if he's still on the board. He expects him to be gone by then but they see the Spurs as his safety net. Grimes' agent is Drew Eubanks' agent ... so there's a little bit of a connection there.

-Similar talk of the Spurs being the safety net for Ayo Dosunmu and Josh Primo -- but, as far as I can tell, that's more speculative in nature.

None of those guys are good enough for the Spurs - they don't have the high character that Primo has

wasn't Hughes a highly touted prospect that year, that simply busted in epic fashion?

I have never even heard of Josh Cousin. I knew of that other Bama kid.
    No, Hughes was a nobody.

The legend from some EN article was that during that draft, the guys they wanted were gone and the Spurs war-room was stumped. Some scout said, "What about Alfredrick Hughes?"

The rest of the room was like, "Who?"

"He scored 26 at Loyola Chicago" and then the scout showed them the stats from a newspaper or magazine.

So they took him. Nobody had seen him play, and he wasn't going to be on TV at Loyola Chicago, which isn't even Loyola Marymount.

Spurs front office got so used to drafting in the 25 to 30 range during the Duncan era that they never learned how to scout or draft lottery talent.
That exact thought occurred to me . . .

Spurs could have traded down for the Knicks two picks but Pop/RC/Wright are all still butthurt about the Knicks taking a dump over them with the Morris fiasco

Whoa boy how do the Spurs not get an F for this draft pick. Even if the guy turns out, you could have traded down and got him plus another asset.

The good news is that DDR is gone and if we replace him with Primo, even though the Spurs will try like to get to the play in game, they will not make it and will be in the lottery. We just have to wait another year for that.

Moody read a poem about making it out the hood tho

I really hope some trades are coming, or I just don't know how to justify this direction. Kid looks like he could be the best shooter in the draft tbh, and as others have mentioned looks like he's just getting to high school too. So quite a bit of potential tbh, and I guess swinging for the fences is a feasible play in rebuilding.

I want to see their plans for next season before I pass judgment.

Would have loved to get kuminga and Moody. Maybe gsw want ddr, mills, Rudy gay and or a salary dump for one of em.

Eh... dunno. Wiseman and Kuminga have high bust capability. Moody has a significant ceiling. Honestly with such high picks I think they could have done much, much better.
