Agreed... he's one of the worst and most wrong analysts at ESPN.
Plus he's one of those jock-sniffing, east-coast, media blowhards that wouldn't know objectivity if it crawled into bed with him. He can't see events in the league outside of the east coast.

Don't buy into anything Chris Broussard says. He "thinks" that's whats going to happen. He's one of the last guys from ESPN to go to for any kind of inside information.

Although, Maggette could very well be waiting for the Philly situation to play out, I'd rather hear it from a more reliable source, and not Broussard.

For whatever it's worth, Stein is reporting that sources have already established that Brand shunned the Warriors' offer:

One source said the Warriors then made a lucrative but unsuccessful free-agent pitch to Brand on Tuesday as opposed to resuming talks with Davis.

I would have thought my measurements would have said enough.

To put it clearly, Maggette is too short and small to guard Dirk.

You have never watched basketball in the past couple years apparently.

The quote paraphrased above and assigned to Maggette came from a Boston paper, IIRC.

Is Darryl Morey's acquisition philosophy to just target anyone that he believes the Spurs are targeting? It's beginning to seem that way.

It sounds like they could do what orlando did last year, drastically overpay for the sake of getting a decent FA

Don Harris just quoted Magette as saying something along the lines of "this time its not about money, ive been in the league for 9 years, and im tired of losing. Im ready to start winning!"

Good sign for SA's chances i think....based on if that is a real quote or not...
    http://www.boston.com/sports/basketb...n+Celtics+news

Maggette averaged a team-best 22.1 points and 5.6 rebounds for the Clippers last season. The 6-foot-6-inch, 228-pounder played for Celtics coach Doc Rivers in Orlando during the 1999-2000 season.

"It's a great honor to even hear from them," Maggette said. "Hopefully, I can look at some of the options. That's a good option playing for those guys."

Maggette opted out of the final year of his contract that would have paid $7 million next season. While an NBA source said Maggette's management has asked the Clippers for a contract starting at $11 million next season, he said he could be willing to take a pay cut for Boston.

"It's not always about money," Maggette said. "I've been in the league a long time and I've made a lot of money. I'm tired of losing. I want to get back to the playoffs and win."

damn i'm getting kinda frustrated and a little nervous that we will wait on Maggette's decision and miss out on other good MLE guys... damn this sux!!!
EVERYONE is waiting on the outcomes of the teams with cap room, including the other MLE free agents. You think JR Smith is going to sign an offer sheet until the ink is officially dry in Memphis, Philly, and Golden State?

You have never watched basketball in the past couple years apparently.
Obviously... since Maggette has never been known as a defensive stalwart especially against a 7fter when he is clearly 6'6.

By the way, since I haven't watched any basketball, I checked Clipper games vs the Mavs this last year and Dirk did his usual damage of averaging around 25pts and 8rbds among his many other stats.

Also, in passing, I would think that a 6'10 Tim Thomas played defense on him and not Corey Maggette.

Apparently, you must be watching a different brand of basketball... WNBA maybe?

No, but apparently you never watched the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

I'm pretty certain that Maggette's appeal to the Spurs has very little to do with defending Nowitzki.

    No kidding.

"Oh yes, I have this magical stat box which tells me who to sign."

"Hey Dennis, who are you guys talking to?"

"Maggette. We would like Barry and Horry back."

"Wait, I didn't get that last name (scribble)."

    "Horry."

"While I got you, what should I do about Landry?"

"Talk about his knee in the media and try to drive down his price."

"K. Cool. Thanks. XOXOOXOXO - Darryl"
