I think a lot of teams could definitely use Maggette's services.

Just because ORL has Hedo and Lewis doesn't mean they don't need Maggette. Hedo and Lewis are mostly shooters, they can penetrate at times and get to the line but it's not their game. Maggette adds a whole new dimension to their offense and brings them the balance they need. They'll have interior scoring, a penetrating guard player, and tons of good 3pt shooters. They can add a piece that they are sorely lacking without giving up any of their core, and the price is dirt cheap. Again I ask, why wouldn't they do it?

The Hornets are in the same boat, they have nobody that can get to the rim from the perimeter other than their PG CP3. At least the Spurs have Manu, the Hornets have a horrific rotation of swingmen (Peterson, Bonzi, etc.).

The Jazz are another team that has the same problem. Deron is really the only guy who can get into the lanes and penetrate. Maggette would definitely have a starting job there over Brewer.

These are just 3 teams I can name off the top of my head. All of them have the MLE to spend, and I can't see why any of them wouldn't make a pitch to Maggette for the MLE price.
Yeah... Love the sig and all, but...

Are you too lazy to update it, or is Gay/Mayo to vulgar for this board???

To me, the situation is the following :
First, if Maggette signs for the MLE, it will be with Spurs.
Second, Maggette is still waiting to receive offers greater than the MLE from teams bellow the cap.

I quite think the situation is clear between Spurs and Maggette. Spurs have made him an offer, Pop has told him what he expected from him and Spurs have given him a deadline to answer.
Right now the waiting game doesn't hurt Spurs because the offseason really start on July 9th.

This pretty much sums it up. Good job, Bruno.

I agree with Bruno, But a new wire report dated today says multiple scources in the nba say corey will sign with spurs.....dont know why he doesnt just agree.......the only team I think that could steal him is Orlando, but from what I hear they wanna split thier MLE between a wing and a pg.....And they just drafted JJ Re and say they love him wont trade him and drafted C Lee in draft so I dont see it happening

They need shooters a the sg spot.....and I think they will make the rookie from Kansas thier sg of the future.....they are also looking to resign pargo with part of the MLE...

wow how many times have you posted this? all 3 teams you mentioned could use corey, but using the mle on him would cripple their ability to build a bench. deron and cp3 both getting extentions too. you cant just have a super starting lineup and no bench and expect to get far. just ask the suns.

He doesn't shoot a good %, but neither did Finley!
Yeah , not a good % at all just two 3-pointers in the greatest game ever in game 1 against Phoenix this year!

Yeah, but he won't have the same opportunities and the same role with those other teams that he would have with the Spurs.

There shouldnt be anymore new garbage threads posted, unless its progress on where
    Corey Maggette is actually going.

Threads like "what number should C.M have" or "can you imagine his name being called" are a waste of threads.

Kori should really consider having this as a sticky or an "Official Corey Maggette thread".
    ......
    He's not coming.

Will Maggette be on the floor during crunch time over Bruce and Manu?

Not over Manu, but depending on the situation (defensive or offensive) he may be on the floor over Bowen.

The guy gets to the line as well as about anybody in the league. But since we all know that the Spurs can't buy a ing call in crunch time, then I'd say no.

    so howard/battie/lewis/hedo/nelson > howard/lewis/hedo/maggette/nelson?
Yes. Magic would be better off spending their money on a bench instead of another shooter.

Agreed. If the situation calls for only 1 big then I see it happening. ie: last possession and we need a 3.

lewis gets destroyed by skilled bigs. he's a 3 playing 4 because of hedo. the magic shouldn't waste their time trying to get maggette. they need a real PF or C to help howard out. i just hope it's not kurt thomas.

4 minutes left in the game. Down by 5 to Portland (with Oden and Aldridge on the court). Who's out there for SA? Whoever played well that game? Knowing Pop, probably so.

Just throwing out one possible scenario.

Would we start Maggette at the 2? Or would we put Bruce at the 2 and Maggette at the 3, either way we still have a tiny front court. That would be a massive back court.
    Parker
    Maggette
    Bowen
    Duncan
    Oberto

If every thing goes perfectly this off-season and during season:
    Mahinmi
    Duncan
    Maggette/Bowen
    Gino
    Parker

    Realistically:
    Oberto
    Duncan
    Bowen
    Gino
    Parker

    Go with the strong suit

Not gonna go through all 46 pages....but can someone tell me whether the Maggette camp has said anything about "frontrunners" or even said who is interested. Seems to this point all we've heard is people citing the Spurs interest and a theoretical fit.

All we have so far is that Maggette is quoted as saying that he'd like to play for a "proven winner."

The one thing in the Spurs' favor, among teams offering the MLE, is that they can have the cap flexibility to give Maggette the large guaranteed contract he apparently is seeking, in 2010. I think Orlando may be the only other team who could pull that off.

So far things seem to be shaping up for the Spurs to have a good shot at landing him. Of course, that could change in the next 5 minutes.

What is interesting to note is that other teams interested in him are going other ways :
    - Boston is now trying to re-sign Posey.
    - Orlando is after Duhon.
    - Hornets are after Posey.
    - Sixers are after Josh Smith and Josh Childress.

Only Spurs and Jazz are said to be after Maggette and aren't reportedly after another MLE free agent.

    Maybe?

Once again, I refuse to get my hopes up.

Well if the Spurs did indeed make an offer to Delfino, then one can assume that it was for a sizable portion of the MLE...

Not really. He's a reach for the LLE, but why not try?
