Not really. He's a reach for the LLE, but why not try?
    Beat me to it.

All we have so far is that Maggette is quoted as saying that he'd like to play for a "proven winner."

The one thing in the Spurs' favor, among teams offering the MLE, is that they can have the cap flexibility to give Maggette the large guaranteed contract he apparently is seeking, in 2010. I think Orlando may be the only other team who could pull that off.

So far things seem to be shaping up for the Spurs to have a good shot at landing him. Of course, that could change in the next 5 minutes.

I'm too lazy to break down each teams chances at getting Maggette, but after looking at all the situations I've come to this conclusion. If it comes down to Maggette excepting the MLE it will be between S.A. and Orl.(shocking, I know)

They both can offer him a starting role, minutes galore, no state-tax, and a chance to win. We all know the ties Maggette has with Orlando and his family, but iirc S.A. employs the man who built his shot.(Chip) Maybe that's S.A.'s ace in the whole.

What is interesting to note is that other teams interested in him are going other ways :
    - Boston is now trying to re-sign Posey.
    - Orlando is after Duhon.
    - Hornets are after Posey.
    - Sixers are after Josh Smith and Josh Childress.

Only Spurs and Jazz are said to be after Maggette and aren't reportedly after another MLE free agent.
    Yes.

Now if the Spurs can't attract a free agent over the Jazz, well, I'll stop thinking about that.

for everything Chump and Marcus know, they don't know jack. They just come up with creative ways of saying we don't know.

And? What else are we to do? Not post until official press releases come out?

Utah right now has some cap flexibility in 2010. Of course, they also would not have much of a team.

They have got to be hating that AK47 contract.

Uh, we know enough to look at the scenario and evaluate possibilities given the NBA and NBPA's CBA and what's in the media. Of course we don't know what's going to happen. But this is a fan discussion forum, no?

To be honest, it is likely that there is only one (Maggette) or two (his agent) people in the world that "know" what is going to happen - and then again, maybe they don't even know jack at this point in time. Everyone here is just speculating, similar to the pundits at ESPN, Yahoo!, etc. - but sadly, Marcus and Chump may be more knowledgeable and accurate than those employed by the large corporations.

As far as Delfino is concerned, it's speculation but an LLE would be a nice way for the Spurs to let them know they are interested and maybe get their foot in the door with him. A Maggette/Delfino acquisition is a best-case scenario, just as Maggette/Posey was for the Celtics.

Never hurts to ask and if Maggette doesn't pan out, perhaps Delfino would get some MLE money from the Spurs.

I can definitely see that. Then call up Colangelo and ask him if he wants Bonner back. The Spurs have done business with him before, no?

IIRC S.A. employs the man who built Maggettes's shot, (Chip) maybe that's S.A.'s ace in the whole?

Correct me if I'm wrong. (Like I need to ask to be corrected. )

Q: It seemed like you improved your perimeter game last season. Is that something you need to continue to work on to take that next step up?

Maggette: I credit that to my coaches, and especially Chip Engelland, who went here. Also Johnny Dawkins, who contacted (Chip) and got him to work with me, and Grant Hill, because Chip works for him and he allowed him to work with me. Also, Tim Grover, who is one of Michael Jordan's trainers. This hard work is going to pay off sooner or later and I want to thank those guys for helping me.
