He was never yours to begin with. This is exactly what I was trying to tell you guys.....media reports and rumors don't mean . They are almost NEVER accurate, especially when it comes to trade rumors. 99% of FO's worth their aren't going to leak anything out until it's done. What you hear in the media are deals that most likely failed to go through.

Just look at Maggette's history and you shouldn't be surprised that he went to the highest bidder. You don't waste your entire career away on the Clippers if you care about winning. All this lazy ass cares about is his paycheck, and now he's set for the rest of his career.
Dumb everybody here knew he would go to Philly, GS or Memphis if they made a much higher offer. There was some possibility that things might fall into place where those teams wouldn't offer him.

    Dumb ing Laker's fans.

Since this seasons FA market resembles a vindictive girlfriend.....

Signing Posey for the MLE away from the Celts, who low balled him, would be par for the course.

IMO Posey's defense and spot up shooting is a better fit for the Spurs anyway.
Posey would be great but it seems like we'd be better off getting someone (JR Smith???) who could start at the SG position so Manu could slowly get healthy during the early part of the season.

You guys are still a top 3 west team maybe even still the best one if healthy (a big if) I think any athletic player could help i also think both rookies have potential (Lakers also liked Hill a lot) ...Magette is good but he is a drive player and you guys already have manu and Tony that can do that well you need youth more than scoring ...a young guy to recharge the vets i dont think magette was that ...but all that being said glad he didnt go to Spurs!!! LOL

Stop whining about Maggette, Spursfan. Be happy that you didn't get him because he's a brittle player who seems to be on the DL half his career.

As I posted here months ago, obviously Maggette was the guy the *purs needed to target.

I admit to being very concerned you might actually get him as he was making noise about "wanting to win" etc.

Of course, it always comes down to the money and very very very few NBA players are going to play for $6 million per to "win" instead of $10 million per to probably lose.

Tough break for you guys, but I am happy he is headed off to someplace where he cannot hurt God's team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now as long as we get Posey to stick a dagger in the Celtics, this off-season will be off to a nice start.

It really all makes sense to me now. The moment Mono declared himself on the Clipper Bandwagon you knew Elton Brand was going elsewhere.

    Seriously, blame Mono.

Nellie needs to ing doing us a solid over this . I personally would take S-Jax over Maggette ANY DAY OF THE ING WEEK.

Maybe Goldenstate would be interested in some expiring contracts to help resign Ellis and Beidrins? Bonner and Vaughn? How many years has Bonner got left?

Its looking more and more like the usual summer. The spurs won't add anyone who will make a big difference.

Sucks.... but Spurs FO are awful when it comes to acquiring new talent.
I have no confidence at all in the spurs FO to get anything more than low level role player talent that are not positive impact difference makers.

If Mag doesn't want or need to come here then what are they supposed to do? They offered him the max they could. I'm sure Pop went out there with a bottle of his best chablis to kiss his ass. What's he supposed to do? Try to fool him into believing SA is a much more exciting city than it is?

There is no one to blame, NBA like other professional sports is also a business.
Spurs did their job by going after Maggette.
Maggette's agent did his job by trying to get the better contract for his client.
Maggette made a quite logical choice by taking the $50M contract instead of the $32.4M contract from Spurs.

There is nothing to regret, Spurs haven't lost too much time on Maggette.
Spurs will now go with their plan B.

Pop probably showed up at his door first thing and said, "Look, I know you have an opportunity to capitalize off the year you've had, but here's the maximum we can give you, and if you are going to make a decision, all I ask is that you make it sooner rather than later. We'd love to have you, but I certainly wouldn't blame you for taking more from someone else."

JR Smith and Azubuike look like the best two options left. Hopefully not Delfino. I'm kinda glad Pietrus isn't an option because that had disaster written all over it.

The Spurs better act fast because this swingman market is going to dry up damn quickly.
Why you so down on Pietrus, Timvp? This guy likely would have been a great fit for the spurs this year. His game reminds me a little of the great Sean E*l*l*i*o*t, except with less finesse and more power. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a breakout year in Orlando, and helps that team get deep into the playoffs.

Pietrus certainly wouldn't have been a disaster. Not great, maybe good maybe bad, certainly not a disaster.

If he was too stupid to not piss Pop off and couldn't get off the bench and had a 5 year ML contract like the Magic gave him he'd be a disaster.

JR Smith is undisciplined. Pietrus is dumb. There's a difference.
