    That's crazy talk.
Why is it crazy to think we should prefer Udoka over Smith? I think Udoka has a opportunity to become a special player for the Spurs if given the consistent minutes. And shooters always play better in their second year with the Spurs.

I'm just not sold on Smith being an asset, and I would rather wait until mid season to see what's available rather than lock up money with JR.

I will say this; If Finley gets minutes this year the spurs have no chance at a le.

Hey Brent...eh hem...all that stuff about Maggette..WE WERE KEEEDING !!! Just a joke, we wanted you the whole time..

The big question now is, would Denver match the MLE for JR Smith ? He brings headaches and points...or do we go after Posey ? Chances are, Boston (having done their due-diligence with Maggette) will offer him the full deal.

Ah well. I've said all along, we just need to find 12 to 15 pts more off the bench in some combination. If we have to go after 3rd tier FA's, then so be it. The guy from the Wizards maybe ? I'd rather bring Brent back.

can someone explain to me how this helps the warriors? their future? their current roster and their holes?

dont get me wrong, i dont blame maggette for taking the contract, im just having a hard time figuring out if monkeys would be more effective than the warriors FO when running a basketball franchise.

It doesn't, but that's never stopped Chris Mullin before.

Smith is better than Udoka. I just don't think Smith gets the Spurs over the top. I'd rather use a sevicable Udoka until we can find that piece than do something desperate like add Smith for a contract that will prevent the Spurs from finding a better piece down the road.

Pop seems to like Smith so I could be way off on my assessment, but the Spurs can afford to wait just a little bit longer if they push Udoka up the depth chart.

That said Smith might be a good option just because if we add him he might be a very tradable asset down the road, if he isn't all he is cracked up to be.

Spurs have Tim, Manu and Tony. It wouldn't take a lot to put them over the top. Finley and Barry put us over the top.

If you seriously think JR Smith can put us over the top, well, you need to have your NBA fan card revoked.

Maggette was just a good scorer on a bad team.
Now he's a good scorer on a bad team full of good scorers that just lost their point guard.

The Spurs just lost out on an overrated player to a team that overpaid dearly simply in order to get revenge on his old team. Not nearly the end of the world some think it to be.

Now, the Spurs will turn their attention to Plan B, whatever that might be.
I already posted that on the internets. And I have a day job.

Finley and Barry coupled with GS taking down Dallas and Cleveland coming out of the East put us over the top.

In case you didn't notice, Finley also put LA over the top when we played them this past season, and he ain't getting any younger.

Stick to housing development news in SA.

I think Golden State is prepared to drastically change its roster. I wouldn't be surprised to see some sign and trades and an offer for a big name RFA. They have a chance to rebuild now.

There aren't many big name RFAs out there. In fact, I count two, and that's only if Emeka Okafor is a "big name".

    Josh Smith
    Okafor
    Childress

Man, I have a feeling they might even give Kurt Thomas a call. They need someone big who can spell Defense. I know he's unrestriced. Why not go play in GS for 5 Mill ?
