We were not able to organize soccer european championships.
We not be hosting it with Ukraine in 2012 and I don't know if we will be able to do it. Built the stadiums, the roads and all infrastracture (I ed that word that;'s for sure).

    Come visit Poland.
It's nice country - you will be surprised about our hospitality.

I like Poland...I appreciate them standing up to Russia and I think they should be given an easier time getting Visas to the US..but the bottom line is that no matter how nice and hospitable you will act...

You basically think Americans are a bunch of spoiled arrogant aholes...like pretty much every other country in the world thinks of us. Including a great many people that have never stepped foot on our soil.

    BTW Poland...

Baseball is a globally played sport, it's played on every continent in the world pretty much except Europe...it's just Europe that doesn't give a about it...why is that do you suppose?

    Arrogance?
    It;s not that.

I was just asking IS THAT AN ARROGANCE?

It;s not about what is popular what isnot in contry like this or country like that.

It's about you. When you lose you say it's nothing. No matter the sport.
Cycling died with Armstrong going retire. So? Now cycling is minor sport just like that? for you it's like that.

We have great speedway in Poland but not much money for it and not much fans are intresed in it.
That's not the point in here.

    Or it is whottt?

    What?

He played ok...sure he struggled at the 3pt line, but he was the only one attacking the basket with any regularity.

    http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fe/08/...icsRoundID=ALL

He is still shooting 64% and is the 5th leading scorer at the tournament.

IMHO, they should have put the ball in his hands more, as the rest of the team was turning it over right and left.

Good win for the USA though...

    What?

It's called bandwaggoning...and yes we do it.

If we ever get a Soccer Team that doesn't suck we will become Soccer Fans and enjoying sticking it to the rest of the world, and then when we go back to sucking at Soccer it won't be as important.

You know what? If we sucked at the Olympics, they probably wouldn't be as popular as they are here either...

Bangwaggoners and sports go hand in hand.

I guarantee you if Poland gets a great basketball team, basketball will become a thousand times more popular there than it is now.

I don't know even know if bandwaggoning is accurate...

For instance, we kick ass at track and field and swimming...and you know what? No one really gives a about swimming or track and field here.

Unless some guy is about to do something no one has ever done before.

IF you really want to know the truth about it...the NBA and basketball aren't that popular here, nowhere near as popular as the NFL is.

So if you really want to get all the way down to it...

The only sport we truly live and breathe as a nation...is football, college football and the NFL. Everything else is just secondary...

    Maybe more then thousand.

It was the second sport in Poland some time ago and I thought that my generation will be realy good. We were 7th in european championship in 1997 I believe.
We will host 2009 EC. All good. But we are harsh for our sportsmen.
We won silver in voleyball and silver in handball but still we were not happy about it. Believe it? It was more then we would expected and still not good for polish nation.

F1 - Not many fans in poland. But now Kubica is one of the best in that sport. You at once have 40 milions (all polish nation) F1 fans.

For now we do not have no medal for poland. We had a chance in Judo for bronze but ... yeah.
Jedrzejczak in swimming - she was the best few years ago. She now failed to even get one medal

Ps. Visas - yup I would likle to see my father after those 17 years I haven't seen him.

Lots of polish americans play football in America...you guys should take it up, I have a feeling ya'll would be good at it.

That sucks dude...I don't know what the deal is.

In America we know three things about Poland:

You guys stood up to the Soviet Union.
    Your jokes are funny.
    You helped us in Iraq...

I really don't understand the thing with the Visas either...especially with the current administration being one that should be favorable to Poland.

No way I'm gonna tell ya

Robert Korzeniowski was a huge stud.
Yup he was as much professional as possible

    He was unreachable.

In Barcelona he was walking to stadium for a silver medal the refs diqualified him. He then worked out new way of walking for him and keeped training.
He did it by himself acually. What to eat during race, when , how much minerals do he need at what kilometer of walk. He was mixing it up and had his own man passing it to him during race. Also a great tactician and great human.

I think you do not understand the American mindset on this.

Americans were never interested in cycling. They were interested in Lance Armstrong. If some other American wins it, still nobody will care.

The NBA was more popular 12 years ago in America than it is now. That is because Americans were more interested in Michael Jordan than they were basketball.

Golf is not super-popular in the U.S. because more people suddenly appreciate golf as a sport. Americans are interested in Tiger Woods.

Transcendant greatness and charisma in a single athlete capture the American imagination. Often the great American athlete gets more attention than the great international one, but that it not surprising; many countries are that way.

Some events have more prestige than others within a given sport. Olympic basketball is more prestigious than the WC.

In golf, the PGA Championship and the Masters are both major championships set in the U.S., but the Masters is more prestigious. When the British Open is at St. Andrew's, it matters more even than the U.S. Open.

In tennis, Wimbledon is more prestigious to Americans than the U.S. Open is.

In American auto racing, the Indianapolis 500 race used to be more prestigious than the Daytona 500; now it's the other way around.

To say any of this is because of American arrogance is presumptuous, even bigoted. Some events just evoke a greater sense of pageantry and prestige to the American sensibility than others.

After getting complacent following 2000 the US has put together a complete team for the first time in several years. The biggest difference is the maturity and emergence of the guards and forwards, and the addition of Kobe. 2008 Lebron, Wade, Anthony, Williams, Paul are far and away better than 2004 Lebron and Anthony (who Brown didn't play anyway) and the other ball handlers on that team. This team is just simply too good with the ball and too good defending on the ball for any other teams in the world to compete with as long as they keep their composure and focus.

I found it funny that Collins was talking about the US playing a bit of zone at the end and some people wondering why they don't play more zone. Zone in basketball is just like it is in football - a device to help cover up defensive deficiencies. With the perimeter and team defense the US has this year there is absolutely no reason to go zone. They have the equivalent to 2 absolutely shutdown corners in the NFL - just lock up man and dominate.

Actually, an American (Floyd Landis) did win it the year after Lance got #7, and then he had it taken away after accusations of doping. But the fact that most Americans know nothing about this simply proves your point.
