My point is that both, while legal, are unnecessary. One isn't better than the other.

Relax friend...I wasn't trying to play "poor USA". I agree with you about 04. Too much BS and too many excuses, niether of which had a place. The US got beat fair and square. I was referring to the sore losers you mentioned, that was the point I was trying to make also that and the double standard that seems to be applicable with some fans. I guarantee you that if the US loses again, the BS will return. Sad but true.

Its true, there are sore losers everywhere, but its funny how you don't see people predicting about how if the US loses, Americans will go back to claiming the Olympics are meaningless and that they lost because the weather was too moist or some like that.

Im not acting that way about the US at all, other countries heard it for years and still hear it. In 2004, some people here didn't want to give Argentina credit for their outstanding performance or Greece for their's in 06...those people got called out for it and rightfully so. It wasn't fair to those teams either. I am merely referring to the US end of it.

Well to be fair, it's kind of hard not to run up the score if you're USA, they don't have a 2nd unit, they've got 12 starters on their team.

I never understood the whole "don't run up the score" bull ! Especially in a major tournament. Its idiotic, sore loser crap! If you don't want the other team to run up the score... PLAY BETTER! The US should be winning these games by as many points as they can, and if that bothers other team's fans then them. I know that if Argentina had the team the US has these Olympics, I would want them decimating the compe ion without mercy.

Heh, after 20-30 point difference, I wouldn't care. I'd rather see the younger guys or the ones that don't play much get a chance than run up the score.

Agreed. If you empty your bench and are still scoring, then it falls on the defense.

The only question is if the USA can maintain the same level of defensive intensity thoughout the tournament that they have shown so far.

If they do, they aren't losing.

But that is easier said then done, they have been playing almost frenzied defense and if they let down at all, Spain, Greece, Argentina are good enough to beat them in one game.

But I give Coach K some credit so far. He was awful in 2006, zero adjustments to the Greece pick and roll play and looked like a dumb . Now, I don't think they have gotten pick and rolled once in the entire tournament and he has guys like Wade and LeBron playing the best defense by far of their entire careers.

But it means nothing unless they close the deal.

I don't see a letdown in intensity happening in the remaining Olympic games. This team really is that hungry for redemption.

Future World Championships and Olympics, who knows - the US team that is assembled might feel content and not give nearly the same effort.
