This is exactly what got the USA smoked in 2004. We can blame it on like, 'we didn't get practice together to mold into a team', but did any USA squad before it? No.

I'm not saying it won't happen, it very well could. But the way USA came into the Australia game, if they do that against Argentina they will find themselves down after the first quarter instead of up by a few.
It's going to be extremely difficult for this Argentina team to beat this USA team. Slowly but inevitably, this cycle is coming to an end. A number of key players during those glorious years are no longer with the team: first Sconochini, then Montecchia, now Pepe Sánchez, Herrmann and Wolkowyski, plus others are not at such a high level as they used to be (Oberto).

Not only that, but the professional growth of our core (though wonderful) has brought along more obligations towards their clubs, making their regular training sessions more and more difficult. Then you have the coaching aspect, where Hernandez hasn't been up to Magnano's standards be that in Xs and Os or leading the group (he's had a few incidents with more than one player). As a result, team play is not where it used to be.

These issues were partially offset by the fact that the top players are still at their prime (Manu, Nocioni, Scola), plus Prigioni has emerged as a reliable PG option and Delfino, for as much as he's made me suffer, is still an intenational level talent. As a result, the Argentina NT as presently cons uted is better than just about every opponent... almost.

I think Spain has surpassed us in the last couple of years, and this USA team would have been extremely difficult for our best teams (2002-2004), and even more so for this one... particularly now that Manu should be less than 100%, and Nocioni seems injured. In summary, this time around it would appear the Argentina NT will have it tougher than ever to try and repeat the glory of yesteryear.

With that in mind, I'd have to say I'm already satisfied with what they've done, and I won't say a word if they fail to get to the final, or even worse, get a medal altogether. They've done way to much already, more than any of us would have dreamed of 10 years ago, and for that they deserve our eternal gra ude.

Still, our guys have proven plenty of times what they're made of and I will never give up on them, and anything can happen in a given game, so... go Argentina!

The dude on the left's face is priceless (I'm being a 'cause that's probably the face our coach had when that 3 from Vasilopoulos banked in )

I believe this link may show the whole game. If not, it will at least show highlights. Just select basketball in the channel section. Follow the instructions. It just asks for your zip code, and cable provider. Finally, select the game you would like to see. Enjoy! Go Spurs Go!!!

Read what I said. You're making my point.

I stated it was a good shot to begin with.

Little bit of confusion here. I think you think I'm referring to Ginobili's shot, which you did say was a decent enough shot and I agree.

I'm actually referring to Spanoulis' shot at the end of the game which you weren't very fond of to say the least. All my posts were actually referring to that shot, not Manu's lol.

I really don't care if they loose by 30...15...40...
They showed they really want this with all their hearts and probably more than anyone else, and I am pretty sure they'll leave it all against the US.
I am so proud of having this guys representing Argentina, overcoming all odds, fights, money issues and being a TEAM.
    VAMOS ARGENTINA CARAJO!

I would agree with that about previous US teams since 92 but I really feel this US team wants it as bad as anyone. Still, it is fun to watch the Argies play. I am looking forward to a fun game, too bad its not for Gold.

No doubt....Manu doesn't seem to know any other way...which will make this game even better.

I'm waiting for the miracle to happen, again. If there's a chance, there's hope.

But I have already set my mind for a defeat. I just want Argentina to make the Dream Team sweat. They've been winning it all too easily. I don't want to see a blowout of dunks and alley-oops like in a meaningless AS game. A US >10 point lead and some nice moves by manu would make my day.

Hey Arg Fan, I stand by my comments. This is the first game I've seen a clutch performance from Delfino since he left Italy for the NBA.

I'm happy that Delfino was clutch today and that he made me eat crow. Hopefully this is a new beginning in his career, and he stops being an underachiever. Because, so far, that's how you must describe his career. The guy has the conditions to be like Manu, but he's happy in the bench in the NBA. Hopefully the Russian experience helps him gain his confidence back.

If you are looking to start up and look like a tough guy on the internet, you better find someone else to play that game.

    PS
Since you're bringing up, How was that bet relating Scola and the recent playoffs First Round? Did you man up and stick to your word, since you're so gangsta?
