Ginobili will finish his career in San Antonio, but I think the Spurs have some barganing power now in the case of "your breaking down easier and easier so we can't take that financial risk anymore"

He shouldn't have played one bit. His loyalty to the Spurs showed when Pop and the Spurs urged him not to play and he gave them the perverbial middle finger.

I had a serious ankle injury in college playing football. Although it was nominally OK after therapy and didn't require surgery, it was a recurring 'weak link' for years.

Not at all, becauase you are putting yourself at risk in any situation.
Basketball players.....play basketball...that is what they do, there is an inherent risk involved in any game.
It is no more risky for him to be playing at the Olympics than in a pickup game at a San Antonio YMCA....

What do you think his Country would have thought of him if he didn't show up to defend their olympic win of 2004. He didn't really have a choice... We are talking about playing for your Country here, not some charity 3 on 3 streetball tournament. Without Manu they wouldn't have stood a chance of defending their gold medal period. Those expectations to be there from his coach, his team, and the people of argentina i'm sure were there in the back of his mind. You gonna turn your back on your Country? I think not...

this should be manu last year with the spurs. He will have 1 yr left on his contract after this season. if the spurs were smart they would trade his ass for the best deal. teams will be more willing since his contract will expire in 2010 freeing up cap space.
Manu will most likely play overseas once his NBA contract is up
