LOL everybody in this forum all got the samething this postseason.......... NOTHING lol you play to win the trophy. Its not garaunteed lakers will get back to the finals ask Mavs, Cavs. Jazz gets out the 1st round every yr and still ringless, so are the suns. Whats the point of getting that far and coming up short.

    it means your showing improvement.

LA came up short 4 times in a row in the western semi's, but they finally did it in 2000. Houston has showed me nothing for too many years to count.

Do phx fans feel better cause they got all the way to the conf finals, or does mav fans feel good because they got to the finals and choked. How about jazz they been advancing since the stockton and malone days and they have nothing to show for it. When its your time it will happen.

So did mavs and phx improve?? seeing they were eliminated in the first round and the worst part is it was in 5 games. The Nba is unpredictable anything can happen but unless you win the you had a failed season end of story

As a Rocket fan i would feel worse losing in the finals then losing in the 1st round. To be that close of the trophy you can touch it and watch your team just crumble would hurt.

That comment comes across as trying to rationalize a relative lack of recent success.

so if NYK gets all the way to the Finals next year and loses in OT in game 7 it was a failed season?

No1 remembers who played in the 1st round and who played in the 2nd round and who made it to the conf finals. The only thing people will remember from last year is Boston Celtics winning the . Its good for nice smack but unless you come away with the you had a failed season.

So how close are the jazz to winning the championship??? if we could tell who was close to winning a ring by a team advancing pass the 1st round, how close is the suns, and mavs. Just a few seasons ago these teams were suppose to be on the brink of a championship now they are 1 and done.

So, by that rationale the hornets' season was a failure? I think you would have a lot of people/sports writers that would argue with that. But if we agree with you on your logic, we would have to declare that teams that lose in the 1st round are bigger failures than those that lost in the conference finals or the finals.

Whats the point of advancing to only be eliminated in the 2nd round, is that some sort of achievement. You dont get rings for advancing to the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Only thing you gain from advancing pass the 1st round is winning a smack off in some forum.

Werent Mavs and Phx considered the elite in the west only a year ago??? In one year they went from being 2 of the top teams in the west to being at the bottom of the west.

Mavs get all the way to the finals and experts predicted they were going to win the le the following year. Little did they know there was going to be a 8th seeded team going to derail those plans after they had a 60 win year.

It's not about smack - it's about how close you did get. Think of it in terms of the NCAA tournament. Why do teams that make it to the Elite 8 and the Final Four get recognition the following year for their success? I understand they didn't win the championship, but they made it a lot further than the a lot of other teams. Rationalize the rockettes continued failure all you want and try to lump other teams that didn't win the le along with them. The truth of the matter is the coaches know it, the players know it (ask Tracy) and most logical rockettes fans know it.

As a fan im not into all the hype about getting out the 1st round, if we dont win the ship its a failed season. I dont settle for 2nd and 3rd best. Alot of rocket fans are satisfied with the rockets only being a team that competes. I wouldnt feel no better if rockets were being eliminated every year in the 2nd round. Pistons get eliminated every year in the conference finals i guess thats an achievement to some and deserves an award or some kind of recognition.

Ask stockton, malone, the human highlight reel, calvin murphy, patrick ewing, reggie miller, charles barkley now that their careers are over are they satisfied with only coming close to winning a championship???

That's where I disagree. Not winning the championship is a failure in itself, but being in the conference finals or the finals is not the same as losing in the first round. The further you get in the playoffs, the closer you are to winning the ring and for some teams it's a stair step process. The Pistons won a championship not too long ago if I remember correctly - they might win one again next year. Part of the Spurs continued success is that they've proven that they can advance and be compe ive each year - that experience is invaluable. Look at the Mavs (except 2006) and the Suns - they have yet to show they have the ability to get over the hump. Now both of those teams have changed dramatically and they might not ever be in that position again.

At the begining of every year every teams goal is winning the championship. I never heard a team say our goal is making it to the 2nd round or our goal is to make it to the conf finals. If you set a goal for yourself and you fail to reach that goal what is that???? Me personally its a failed year.

Failure just emanates from this statement...and there is no hope for you if you can't see why.

Just preparing you for the inevitable...

you. This is what you want to happen, just grow a ing pair of balls and admit it. You keep saying this is what's happened in the past, so it will happen again. That's BS--this is what YOU WANT to happen. Grow a pair, will you. If you had a pair, you would hope for a healthy rox team where there will be NO excuses should they not advance past first round. Health and role player talent/3rd scoring have been issues since yao and tmac experiment started. Now, with recent additions, health is the key.

keep jerking off to your western conf. finals appearance/Finals loss. They would not have been there if we had Yao. News flash, the fakeshow did NOT win a championship last year.
