My dog was chasing a rat a few minutes ago and he was able to get it, i dont know if the rat bit him however I am worried that the rat might be rabid...my dog got his yearly rabies vaccination on July should I be worried?

    No.
Rats generally don't carry the rabies virus. If your dog is vaccinated, he should be fine. Rats do however carry plenty of other . Things to look out are things like fleas and ticks which themselves transmit diseases from the rat to your dog.

here are some links from the cdc:

only thing i'd be worried about is if the rat previously got into any type of poison. cats can die just by having one in their mouth even if they dont eat it
