Does anyone here know something about electronics and LEDs?
I have a college work where I'm building a car maquette (1:10 scale) and I'm thinking about using LEDs to make the headlights. I would like to use 12 LEDs, 8 in the front of the car and 4 in the back.
I think I'll divide the LEDs in pairs, to make it easier to organize them, like this:

    My questions are:
1- Considering that I'm going to buy "ultra-bright" LEDs in the white color how much mcd should each LED have to provide a nice ilumination? By nice ilumination, I mean more or less at the level of a small flashlight.

2- What kind of batteries and how many should I use? I wanted to use simple AA batteries (1.5v) if possible.

I know I'll need to use resistors, but I'll look at that after I choose the LEDs.

    Thanks in advance.
