Love the talent, hate ther personality. If Parcells can keep his at ude in check, then of course he's a big time addition to the Cowboys, a threat to score from anywhere on the field. On the flip side he could create chaos and divide the entire team, it's not like him being in Minnesota has lead to continual playoff success season after season. I'm afraid.

Don't forget, Dallas used to be a team that was full of chaos and controversy in their winning days. Acquiring Moss sure brings those days back. I could care less if they are back to the controversial cowboys. Just start winning again.

You've got a point there elf, there sure as was TONS of chaos back in the championship days, of course we were winning super bowls which made it easier to deal with! I guess another concern would be to we even have the QB to get Moss the ball, or the O line to protect the QB long enough for him to get the ball down field? Those are some questions that have to be answered before next season.

    Brzezinski's job safe for now

    CHARLEY WALTERS

Rob Brzezinski, who oversees the Vikings' football operation, doesn't have to worry about his immediate future if Reggie Fowler ends up buying the NFL team.

"Brzezinski is bulletproof," one of Fowler's partners said.

"He's a diamond," one of Fowler's associates said.

Of coach Mike Tice, one of Fowler's investors said, "He'll have to win."

Tice and Brzezinski have contracts through this year.

    • Kevin Warren, an attorney representing Fowler, was fired as the Detroit Lions' chief legal counsel by team President Matt Millen in January 2003. Warren's contract had three years left on it.

"I was hired by Matt and was with Detroit for two years as senior vice president of business operations/general counsel," said Warren, who was reached Saturday in Phoenix. "In January of 2003, there was a housecleaning; a whole slew of people (were fired). We won two games our first year and three games our second year.

"Marty Mornhinweg was the head coach, he got fired. Kent Newhart, assistant to the president, got fired. Bill Tobin, who was vice president of player personnel, got fired. I did. It was just a housecleaning. It wasn't anything personal or anything negative; it's pro football. That's the nature of the business."

A Lions spokesman on Saturday confirmed Warren's history with the team. Warren, 41, worked in the NFL for six years. He spent his first four years with the St. Louis Rams, the first three (1997-99) as vice president of player development/football legal counsel with coach Vermeil.

Warren has a 1999 Rams Super Bowl ring, which he wears. Warren was promoted in 2000 to the Rams' vice president of football administration/football legal counsel.

Warren is a Notre Dame Law School graduate and is licensed in Michigan and Kansas. He moved to Arizona last year and said he plans to take that state's bar exam in July.

    • Among spectators at Saturday's Minnesota-Ohio State men's basketball game at Williams Arena was former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders, whose son Ryan is a freshman point guard for Minnesota.

Saunders said he hasn't been able to watch the Wolves, who have gone 2-1 under Kevin McHale since Saunders was relieved of his duties a week ago. He also said he hasn't spoken with McHale since the team vice president replaced him.

Saunders said he has heard from other NBA coaches since his reassignment but that he hasn't received any feelers about next season. He added that he is undecided about how soon he might return to coaching and about options and provisions in his contract. Immediately after Saturday's game, he and wife Debbie left for Las Vegas for a vacation and to ponder options.

Saunders was not fired as coach of the Timberwolves. The Wolves plan to have Saunders, who is owed nearly $8 million through next year, scout for them. If he takes another coaching job before his Wolves contract is up, his new salary would offset what the Wolves owe him.

    • University of Minnesota general counsel Mark Rotenberg, speaking Saturday on the suspension of men's tennis coach David Geatz and assistant Adam Cohen: "Our office conducted a very careful investigation of this matter (alleged NCAA rules improprieties) that we turned over to NCAA enforcement officials, and we expect enforcement officials to show up this week and double-check our work and look into the matter further. When they're done, probably in four to six weeks, they will tell us their views, and Joel (athletics director Joel Maturi) may take further action at that time to protect the program."

Jerry Noyce coached the Gophers men's tennis team to three Big Ten Conference les during 15 highly successful seasons before becoming president and chief executive officer of Minneapolis-based Health Fitness Corp. Noyce, who attended Saturday's Gophers-Ohio State basketball game, said he isn't interested in returning to coach the Gophers, even on an interim basis.

    • Inexplicably, some people in Lake Placid, N.Y., where the late Herb Brooks, a St. Paul native, coached the U.S. Olympic hockey team in 1980 to an upset of the Russians and a gold medal that brought worldwide acclaim to the area, have dissented against renaming the arena after Brooks.

Herb's widow, Patti, children Danny and Kelly, and many of his 1980 Olympic players, including Neal Broten, Bill Baker, Dave Christian, Steve Christoff, Mike Eruzione, John Harrington, Steve Janaszak, Mark Johnson, Rob McClanahan, Mike Ramsey, Buzz Schneider, Eric Strobel and Phil Verchota, are expected to be in Lake Placid on Wednesday for USA Hockey's "Miracle on Ice" 25th anniversary celebration.

    • The Gophers football team had 32 Minnesota high school juniors as guests at the men's basketball game against Ohio State on Saturday, including Matt Carefel and Kim Royston of Cretin-Derham Hall and Adam Weber ofMounds View — who have been offered tenders, according to Chris Monter's goldensports.net. Weber, a quarterback, is the son of former Gophers football standout Bobby Weber and now a physician in town.

    DON'T PRINT THAT

    • If Reggie Fowler's agreement to buy the Vikings from Red McCombs isn't approved by the NFL, look for a rebidding process to begin, the same as when novelist Tom Clancy's bid fell through seven years ago and McCombs ended up with the team over bids by Glen Taylor and Roger Headrick.

    • The latest Randy Moss trade rumor is that Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells, who prides himself on handling difficult characters, will get into the sweepstakes for the controversial wide receiver along with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The Cowboys have two first-round draft selections, Nos. 11 and 20 overall, and decent defensive players, so the pieces are there.

    OVERHEARD

    • From former Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter, an NFL analyst for Yahoo!Sports: "If (the people of Minnesota) are not going to give Reggie Fowler a stadium, there's no way he's going to keep the team in Minnesota."

At least Randy Moss has accomplished something in the league. Bryant is still living off his hype as a good college WR, that's made a few nice catches in the NFL. ...Freddie Mitc has done more than Bryant.

I don't put any weight into the Moss rumors. Dallas is said to have interest in every free agent out there, but nothing ever comes of it.

I was watching ESPN, and everyone agreed that Moss is probably staying in Minnesota, sorry Cow-Boy fans...
