My son was reading the other night (he loves Foxtrot) and had to ask me several times what certain words meant. Finally I handed him the dictionary and told him to look up anything he didn't understand.
Yesterday morning he confessed to me that he didn't want to look up those words, so instead he looked up the word ass. After I quit laughing he proceeded to give me the word-for-word dictionary definition.
At least he knows how to use the dictionary now.
At least he has good reading and memorization skills.
Heh, I am sure we all remember looking up vulgar words in the dictionary and giggling like idiots the first time we came across an unabridged definition of " ".
lol
Oh yea it was real funny when my son's 3rd grade teacher told the class that "jackass" is not a bad word but just another word for donkey!!
My parents used to infuriate me when I would ask how to spell a word and they would say "go look it up in the dictionary"...I would be like "I already know what it means but how the am I supposed to look the spelling up if I don't know how to spell it?...If YOU don't know how to spell it just SAY so..."
