That's usually a dumbass argument reserved for economic matters, I guess the republican line on this is, "if your immune system's not strong enough, you then, shoulda been more self-reliant."

And I highly doubt that say democrats had hypothetically blocked an anti-abortion Mike Leavitt, that you clowns would decry his position as a useless tool of the dependant... had this happened on Bush's watch.

    ing idiots.

If I have the swine flu then I'm taking as many people with me as possible. I'm going to school in a bit and I'm going to breathe on everyone.

If your thinking maybe you have the flu then you probably don't have the flu. The flu hits you like a freight train and you'll know it for sure. I've had the flu once in my life, over 20 years ago. I can still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when it knocked me on my ass.

My wife has been getting calls all day from patients worried because their throat hurts or they have a runny nose. The media sure is doing a good job of freaking everyone out.

Simple question and maybe it's already been asked and answered -- although, I've yet to see any news reporters ask any officials:

Other than being out of flu season -- why is this different than the seasonal flu that kills approximately 35,000 Americans annually? (Folks, that's 100 people a day).

Seriously, I don't know why this is different.

I think the victim profile in Mexico has included many more people who would be thought to be more resistant to the average flu.

Even so, the number of cases and the number of deaths are no where near the proportions we see during an average flu season....where millions are infected and -- as has already been said -- tens of thousands die.

It's still quite early in the process.

Fair enough. We'll see how this plays out but, if it turns out like the swine flue nonsense in the 70's more people will end up dying from the government's actions than do from the disease...

Maybe I'm misremembering but, did the swine flu vaccine Gerald Ford ordered us all to take kill about 700 people?

I think it sickened hundreds and a couple died, but I could be wrong.
