The Celtics have a long history of bringing one of their best players off the bench like the Spurs do now with Ginobili. At least four hall of famers have been the Celtics sixth man including Havlicek and McHale.
Maybe Rasheed will insist he starts in which case he'll be a Spur.
Maybe he won't. Maybe it doesn't matter to him as long as he gets the playing time.
Sheed will go with whoever has the best chance to win a championship. Who is it? Boston or SA? With KG back next year, Boston would have been the obvious choice until the Jefferson trade happened. Now, it's pretty much a deadlock. The East has come back somewhat with Orlando, Cleveland, & Boston all in the mix for next year. The West has LA, Denver, SA, etc.
So it probably boils down now to who he feels most comfortable with. I think he'll still go to Boston. JMHO.
On the plus, the Spurs will then go after a much younger guy who will help the team for years to come. It could work out best in the long run.
True, but that would take away any fun you could possibly have on a board like this, wouldn't it?.
It all seems like it is a kind of a difficult situationn. Right now, I'll just hope: I thought the chances of landing Sheed weren't that bad even before the RJ-trade, let alone the chance of being a part of perhaps the best S5 in the league.
I'd be pleased with Dice coming on board as well, of course.
I am confused. Who is Rasheed Wallace best buddies with? Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett? Both Timmy and KG have "had discussions with their good friend Sheed about coming to their team."
I will cry when this saga is over, regardless of whether sheed ends up with boston or with us.

Every time they are playing against each other, they joke a lot; they seem to have that chemistry (ok, that sounded really gay)
I just don't see Sheed going to the Celtics. This recent push is driven largely by KGs initiative. The C's front office will have a hard time reconciling bring on Sheed for the full MLE with potentially losing both Davis and Powe (at least one). Those players (especially Davis) were important to what the C's do.
As it stands Spurs and C's share a similar cap situation (at or around the 70M mark). Thankfully for us, Davis had a break out season which should command some attention in the open market.
Hmm Garnett is pushing hard because he wants no part of Howard. He wants Perkins and Wallace to guard Howard and Shaq so he doesn't have to do jack . Straight up pussy KG. Another thing why would Wallace choose Boston when he hasn't even seen KG play a minute of ball since his injury?

I agree he would fit in a lot better with the Spurs. Just the way he plays is more helpful to them. KG and Sheed would are two similar bigs that would prefer shoot outside instead of post. I bet you Ainge and Doc are telling sheed he can start over perkins, I mean they are rolling out the red carpet for this 35 year old. Ainge meeting with him after deadline, then all of the big 3 meeting with him, wtf, they think this is the savior for them. I have a hunch he's going to Boston. I won't be all that sad IF we can get mcdyess or another guy that is legit. We'll see but my moneys on boston get him.

Wallace respects Pop, and knows Pop wants him. I don't think Wallace will just sign without meeting with Pop. Could be wrong, but just a thought.
I thought Ben Gordon and Charlie V. were just meeting with Joe Dumars today too, but we know what happened. Sheed to Boston, plan B is just around the corner.
Well I hope that everything works out and we sign him but if we get McDyess that'll be just as good. Boston seems to be going all out but maybe they are just getting more coverage... who knows...

That is what im expecting. Sheed would not only have to come off the bench, he will have to battle it out with Glen Davis on who will get more backup minutes. Where in that clip does it say Sheed is going to Boston to meet? I fast forwarded a bit. But I thought Ainge said they will be talking to Sheed's people.
Could you imagine listening to Kermit the frog calling out plays for the next 3 years? Id sign with the Spurs too.
