Damn right..

An NBA source said that the Celtics offered Pistons free agent F/C Rasheed Wallace a contract using the mid-level exception today during a three-hour meeting in Detroit.
The Celtics All-Star trio of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, coach Doc Rivers, president Danny Ainge, and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck all attended the meeting.
While interested, the source said Wallace was in no rush to make a decision.
Other teams projected to be interested in his services are Charlotte, San Antonio, Orlando, and Cleveland.
Now we wait for the other teams to show their hands.
wow...didn't see that coming!
...silence...
Here it is for everyone in case the link doesnt work or something....

3 hour meeting huh? Wow!. Well if Sheed really wanted to be a Celtic wouldnt he have taken the offer already? Maybe there is some hope for us!
. And let's get real...he's not going to Charlotte.

If he didn't accept already I like our chances... the meeting failed otherwise the headline would be different...
That's somewhat of a relief.
Well, it says he's in no rush to make his decision. He very well may have made up his mind without telling them but wants to hear from the Spurs or whoever he's interested in playing for.
I don't like that very much. While interested, the source said Wallace was in no rush to make a decision.
If we wait too much on him we may lose McDyess and others
Please. Only a moron would accept the first offer that came his way without hearing what everyone else has to say. Sheed not taking their offer on the spot means nothing. He's going to hear everyone out and then he'll make a decision.
Are you calling Gordon a moron?Only a moron would accept the first offer that came his way without hearing what everyone else has to say.
But if he really really wanted to be a Celtic and was convinced by KG and all their BS he would've taken the offer already. Just like that report the other day that said "The Celtics want Sheed and he wants them." Maybe not so much now? That is why him not taking the offer already from them is good for us.![]()
Was there anyone else standing in line to offer Gordon the same money Detroit was?
You don't pass up a 5 Year 55 Million $ contract.
Gordon isn't going to make the same mistake twice. He got lucky this offseason that he had a good playoff and that the Detroit was willing to overpay.
If Sheed passes up the Spurs this year he is a moron...seriously.....
Yea Sheed is in no hurry; he is going to ride this out for as long as he can... Next he will probably go hang with CP3, then on to Orlando to hang out with Superman and Vinsanity, then to Cleveland to smoke a few blunts with Shaq and the King, then will round it out by flying down to SA to be wined and dined and then hopefully sign with us... lol! This could very well take weeks... in the meantime ST will be in a total meltdown til this thing is all over...![]()
A little wait is fine but hopefully the Spurs have a cut off date in mind so they won't watch all the other big men sign with other teams and still lost out on Wallace.
I get that as a fan you really, really want this to mean something, but it doesn't. Sheed has several teams wanting his services, all contenders, all offering the same money. If 5 people are offering you a job and they're all offering the same amount of money are you going to take the first one that you interview with, or are you going to interview with them all and see which one of the 5 is the best fit?
"If 5 people are offering you a job and they're all offering the same amount of money are you going to take the first one that you interview with, or are you going to interview with them all and see which one of the 5 ..." will offer a third year?
well said...![]()
A valid question for him. One he won't know the answer to until he's met with everyone.
"Old ass" article from 4:00!
