He HAS lost weight man. Like 30-40 pounds. The guy looks chiseled. There is no comparison between the two.
I think I am standing on the platform waiting on the Zaza train. I just want to see someone in a Spurs uniform knock the ever loving out of Kevin Garnett.

Anyone who saw Blair's press conference can tell he has literally been working his ass off. He looks like a different guy than he did at Pitt.
Agreed, I really like the kids work ethic.
Makes sense. Spurs will likely be offering more $, perhaps double, and a better shot at a le. But his reported affinity for Detroit appears to be strong. One wonders if he'll ask for some kind of trade kicker or assurance that the Spurs wouldn't deal him.
mcdyess does appear to be very loyal and if he comes to SA this will be an asset but of course, it may be the trait that keeps him from coming here as well.
If Spurs can sign McDyess and Lakers happen to lose Odom (as is being thrown around right now as Lakers are not willing to pay $10m per year) do we think Spurs are back to being pretty close to the defending champs when both are healthy? I'd say so. If Spurs sign McDyess they will still have a little money to spend on maybe someone like Rasho or another big body defender I like our chances against the Lakers. their bench will consist of Farmar, Vujacic, Mbenga, Brown, Powell... Really unimpressive.
However assuming we get McDyess and Lakers lose Odom may be a big if, I hope Portland throw some money at Odom now that they lost turk. Lets start the chant... knee jerk reaction, knee jerk rection, knee jerk reaction!! Come on Portland, pull a Golden State! Lose Baron so you over-react and jump on and overpay Maggette!
Why, that's not catchy at all.
Even if Spurs don't get Dice. IF Lakers lose Odom they lose a LOT. a whole lot. Odom was the engine of the teams on long stretches. He does it all. Losing Odom alone would put Lakers back in the pack along with Spurs, Celtics, Cleveland
If we get Dice, this offseason will be an A+. If we get Dice AND the Lakers lose Odom, this offseason will be an A+++++++++ times infinity. Plus 1.
Sigh, do you actually have anything of value to add??
Yeah true, no Odom would drag the Lakers back down. I think the Celtics are pretty far ahead of the rest right now, especially if they can score Grant Hill. I'm happy they're in the East...
we all assume the Spurs are currently focusing on McDyess, but I'm not 100% sure the plan A to bring in the missing big isn't still a trade.
the signing of Haislip for reportedly the LLE has pushed the Spurs over the threshold and adding 3 minimum contracts (Blair, Gist, McClinton?) will get them to +2-3 million over the threshold.
so signing McDyess for the MLE will cost them as much as 11 million per.
ok, we learned that they are willing to pay tax this year, but this are still the Spurs and it also doesn't take a rockets scientist to figure out that a trade of Bonner and Finley (or Mason) for a quality big might be cheaper AND might result in a better roster overall.
if the Spurs sign McDyess and with the addition of Haislip (and also Blair), Bonner will turn into dead meat. and it also might me more effective to get rid of Finley and therefore sign Bruce (to keep a "system" veteran guy).
I'm also pretty sure the signing of Haislip wasn't without intention to make Bonner even more expendable.
I'm not sure the Spurs are focusing on McDyess, I don't think they would be offering Dice the full MLE. I think somewhere in the $3.5m range would be what they would be looking at if they do decide to go down that road with him. The funny thing about the Spurs is everything is so secretive, we truly never know what is going on. Other teams around the league are always linked in trade talks here and there. If a trade is about to happen you will here about it about 2 days before it actually happens. Not the Spurs, the RJ trade basically flew out of nowhere. In short, who knows what the Spurs are up to? I refuse to believe they are simply "waiting to see how things pan out". They are not stupid and waiting/watching while quality FA's join compe ive franchises would be stupid. I think they're up to something, I hope they are. Don't know what though. There must be a reason they're not pursuing free agents as hard as reported.
Lakers won't lose Odom. He's a for LA.
Dice may come to the Spurs.
Well that article says a decision from Dice is coming soon. Hopefully really son.
Well, according to the Detroit Free Press, Detroit is talking to Brandon Bass's agent. That would seem to imply that they think they might be losing McDyess to the Spurs!
Of course, this may just be their backup plan, and Bass would fit their remaining budget. Anyway, encouraging to see.

NEGOTIATIONS: Getting closer, but no deal yet
Brandon Bass | Mavericks
The Dallas Morning News reports negotiations are ongoing between president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson and Brandon Bass' agent, Tony Dutt.
The Mavericks' offer is believed to have been upgraded recently, perhaps to the $3.5 million per year neighborhood, while Bass wants something in the $5 million range.
"Brandon's still very interested in Dallas," Dutt said. "We're making headway. We're just not there yet."
<LI sizset="230" sizcache="0">One option for Bass is the Detroit Pistons. Dutt told the Detroit Free Press on Monday that the Pistons have inquired about Bass and there is mutual interest. "We see it as a great situation that we would like to explore at some time," Dutt said. "It's an organization that has the respect of players."
This is something Avery could push along in Detroit. Also, Avery hire might mean Dyess may not leave Detroit.

- a slam against Cuban's Mavs?

Better for us from a McDyess perspective? The Detroit Pistons have passed on Avery Johnson in their search for a head coach after failing to agree to contract terms with the former Mavericks coach and current TV analyst, a person with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com.
Let's hope McDyess is making his decision soon.
I'm starting to believe we'll end up with Davis or Bass.
I really like Dice, I think he would fit well with the Spurs. But with the pickup of Haislip who provides the 3pt range we wanted with Sheed and Blair who provides the toughness and rebounding we have been lacking. Wouldnt another 7 footer(or close to it) who can rebound, play post D and block shots be a better fit for us? Im not sure if these guys have reported making agreements yet... but Zaza Gortat or Anderson would be ideal imo. Particularly Anderson if we could somehow get him away from Denver.
I remember reading that he will make a choice soon, hopefully it's in silver and black.
I would hope so.![]()
Yeah, I think that's good news. AJ would have been a "win now" coach and Detroit would look a lot more like a championship contender.
Now we have to hope that Detroit targets some no name assistant coach. It seems like McDyess didn't like Curry last season so it's doubtful that he'll want to go through another season with a coach who may or may not know what he's doing.
AJ not going to Detroit may have have just sealed McDyess to SA, hopefully!
