She was a huge plus to the McCain campaign. Fundraising went through the roof when she was added to the ticket, she was outdrawing McCain for her speaking appearances, she was drawing more people to the same speaking venues than Obama himself was.

She said "Letterman went to far" I was like "are you kidding me, why just letterman and not all of them and what about all the they said about that 17 year old".... Her reply along with a few of her friends in the room said " Gov. Palin pranced those kids all over the convention that they set themselves up for all the name calling" That is ing stupid. I reminded my sister she has two kids and makes decisions all the time that may not be popular and asked her how she would feel if they made fun of her kids because of something she did....No answer.. Infact she stormed off. She is 42. Her friends then went on to try to defend my sister saying she is not in politics. Again give me a freaken break. You leave kids alone!

I could have said it a little better. I don't think the picking Palin as VP was the reason for McCain's loss. But it is one of them. Major but not decisive, as my clumsy wording seemed to imply.

If I had to isolate a single turning point in the campaign it would be the financial panic following the failure of Lehman Brothers, and McCain's kooky suspension of his own campaign coinciding with the TARP vote.
