Sheed seems like a better fit for Boston. He'll be in with a fleet of bigs that can attack in waves.

Sheed would have been asked to do too much with the Spurs. He's not a center, he's not young and he's not athletic. His game has moved out further from the basket every year.

In SA, Sheed would just have sucked up salary for two (or even three) years and ruined the Spurs flexibilty to really address their big man problems longer term. He would have eventually been reviled by Spurs fans even worse than Finley. (He might have even prevented the Spurs from signing Splitter next year.)

It's probably better for both teams that Sheed ended up in Boston.

Isn't Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva suppose to be on the roster to?

I think they have to wait till they actually sign the contract. I may be wrong but, I haven't seen their names on the Detroit roster yet.

Ben Gordon is not showing on the Bulls roster anymore. But, Charlie Villanueva is still showing on the Bucks roster. It may be simply a screw-up on Yahoo's part which wouldn't surprise me.

He doesn't have an insane contract. It's 7.65mil expiring. Bonner and Finley and a first might get it done.
Yeah, that's not bad at all. Who really knows what Pop and the FO are thinking. There just seemed tro be so much momentum from SPurs fans to sign Rasheed and just maybe he never was the guy the Spurs are after. Signing RJ was the first big step and the Pop said they had more choices at the 4 .. a lot of us assumed that this need would be met via FA.. its still possible but maybe a S&T for someone like camby is what they are thinking of.. guess we won't have any clearer idea what's going on until some deal is actually finalized and the truth revealed.. Spurs fans waiting with bated breath.

I don't know if Rasheed was Spurs' primary target but he was for sure mine's.

Sheed isn't the only good big available via trade or FA and I damn hope Spurs will get one good big because this team badly need one.

TBH, I'm not that disappointed. I think the FO knows what they're doing, and even if they don't, I'm still gonna watch the games. For real tho, if we were to play Boston in the Finals this year, watch Blair annoy Sheed until his head explodes lol

Just like they knew what they were doing after winning in 2007, just sitting on that roster.

Oh well, Sheed would have been a great addition. We need a big, but I am still impressed by the moves our FO has done thus far. Bring on McDyess.

Throughout the whole process this was at the back of my mind...and I wonder if at the end of the day it was a big reason why he didn't come here.

If Sheed plays here he will be asked to do a lot. He will play starters minutes and be counted on to defend the teams best post player for those minutes night in and night out. In Boston he has Perkins and Garnett and even Pierce to some extent to share the load with on the front line. Both the Spurs and Celtics offer a equally good shot at a le, but it would be much easier for Sheed physically to play in Boston. Honestly, I can't blame him too much at his age.

It's a given that Wallace isn't the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to basketball smarts, but when it comes to buisness. Damn!!! I mean to not even try the market on your offers??? What a dumbass...

I'd challenge that basketball smarts comment. Don't mistake temperment for IQ. Sheed has trouble controlling his anger but is a pretty smart basketball player (game 5 defense on Horry aside).

Also the earlier comment about McDyess being a better mentor to young bigs, that is somewhat a fallacy as well. Dice might be more professional, but Sheed is a great mentor when it comes to helping young bigs learn how to play the game. Dice is a good role model but mentoring takes more than that. Dice is the quiet type who younger players could emulate while Sheed is a vocal guy young players would listen to and follow.

I think there is some warped perception going on here particularly after Sheed made decided to go to Boston.

...is having to listen to Bill Simmons talk/fantasize/masturbate about it for the next year.

But seriously, this isn't a "failure" by the Spurs F.O....I suspect they knew all along that he's an East Coast guy, fits right in with the mouthy Garnett, and didn't want to play in S.A. They'll move on....can we?

    Please?

I got a lesson from Kori Ellis one time...because I did the same thing you're doing...if you want to move on about a topic, and make people stop talking about it, (or to it, in my case)the worst thing you can do is start a topic about it.

what sought-after player would want to play in san antonio when it's 110 effing degrees outside?
Yeah, those air conditioned gyms are just murder, as are those 110 degree days during basketball season.

Have the Spurs released a statement which showed Sheed was the person they wanted? I must of missed that.

Haha. That would be a start.

Maybe we will and maybe won't find out the whole story. But either Sheed didn't wanna play here, or the Spurs didn't want him as bad as us fans wanted him.

Get over it, and see what the next chapter brings.

Or like a sane person, you could choose to not read/listen to Bill Simmons.
