McDyess was 11th in the league in rebounds per 40 minutes last year averaging 15.6 which was higher than Duncan, Gasol or Bynum.

This statistic is the reason why I wish rebounding had a separate stat of Rebounds in traffic ( RIT). That stat would be more telling on which players would be the better rebounders.

Newsflash, McDyess is going to get outrebounded by bigger PF's and C's. Have any of you morons actually watched him play recently?
Haha. Whatever, dumb . He's only one of the league's best rebounders. Idiot.

I guess McDyess never went up against bigger PF's and C's when he played in Detroit..........

McDyess's rebounding #'s better than Duncan / Gasol / Bynum? Wow, he's even better than I first thought, holy cow.

I think the good doctor's brain is starting to implode.

So why did he get 12 rebounds the last time they played the Lakers, when the Lakers have one of the largest frontcourt?

He also got 14 rebounds against the Celtics last year.

You have clearly NOT watched him play at all last season. The only offense you get from McDyess are his wide open midrange jumpers. That's it.

McDyess = Kurt Thomas. I don't denigrate the Spur's FO, this was the best they could realistically do.

    Check out McDyess's stats.

He sure is getting a lot of wide open midrange jumpers right underneath the basket.

McDyess has been playing on drastically reconstructed knees for even longer than 10 years so I don't see your point.

His skillset is NO different than Kurt Thomas. Your basically getting a replacement for what you lost in the RJ trade. What you needed was an upgrade, you didn't get it.
You still don't get it...putting aside whether or not McDyess = Thomas, is slightly better or significantly better...THE MAJOR UPGRADE WAS RJ!

Spurs didn't "need" an upgrade at the other big position like you say. Personally I think Dice will be an upgrade and will play significant minutes, but even IF he only equals Thomas, the Spurs are still going to compete on level with the Lakers.

I was at the gym this morning and Mike and Mike was on. In between their segments, they usually do updates of the goings on in the sports world. They had a whole NBA segment where they showed off Ron Artest and rambled about the Marion trade. Not a single thing was said about McDyess going to SA. I know, I know...its BSPN...so it's expected. That doesn't make it any less annoying.

They scared of us....and rightfully so.

Under the radar as usual...I like it.

Now if we can get greedy and have 1 more trade before calling it an offseason...

    It's simple. Mcdyess>>>>>>>>>>>Big Baby.
Spurs got some front court help and some veteran leadership.

The Spurs didn't get any help. They simply replaced what they lost in the RJ trade.

    McDyess = '08 Kurt Thomas.

Go ask Piston fan about McDyess. He's good for some quality rebounds and the spot up midrange jumper, that's about it. He's not going to be blocking shots like D12, playing superb post defense, or be an intimidating force on the defensive end. Not at his age and with his wrecked knees.
