The reason they were successful is because they had something else in addition to the slow release. Beck has that gimmick crossover, and that's about it.

He is, but I forget where. I want to say New Jersey for some reason.
I noticed AJ is on the Nets SL rooster, but he did not play in any of the games. Does not look too promising for him.

Who can tell me how much does Ian really weigh? Why does it say that he is only 230 lbs on http://www.nba.com/summerleague2009/...er=ian_mahinmi? But I remembered that he is about 250 lbs.

Oh I agree. But your description could perfectly describe Bonner also.

Sjax was a master of the spin pass
I can sip and entire cup of coffee between SJAX squaring up and releasing.

16 boards, 10 fouls and 12 points for Ian...a triple double...

They could have easily called another seven or eight fouls on Ian. He just kept brushing up against people. Damned Frenchman.

Anybody wrote down the name of the female ref? I'm officially canceling my subscription to NBA League Pass once she goes pro.

SJax is 6-foot-8 with long arms and he releases at the highest possible point.

    Beck ... not so much.

game day!!! nothing better then playing basketball against people that are just as compe ive as me.about 4 hours ago from mobile web

so i guess RC's response is more accurate?
nothing to do with contract stuff?
There's no telling. If it were contract related, RC wouldn't tell us. The Spurs keep that stuff in house.

    a few points..

-Hill didn't handle the press well IMO, can't deny that..obviously his teammates had a part in that..I don't think it's a big deal TBH, he'll improve..the thing is, Hill is NEVER going to be a passing PG, it just isn't his style..I highly doubt Pop would care too..Pop wants him to be aggressive and have penetration ability, and he clearly does..that's the key with Hill..he's going to be a scoring PG that focuses on D, while doing other little things..he isn't going to be a good passer any time soon, and it really won't make a difference in our system IMO..

-I don't think the fouls with Ian will be as much of a concern as tonight..the majority of his fouls tonight were against the perimeter players, not the big men, and obviously the majority of the calls were phantom fouls or very ticky-tack..they don't make those calls in the NBA, unless you're a superstar going against a role player..

like I said before..the thing I'm gonna look for in Ian is improvement..I don't care how his numbers look at the end, I just wanna see game-to-game improvement as he shakes the rust off..

from game 1 to game 2, I saw a massive improvement..now next game, let's see if he continues to improve, even if it's just in minor aspects..
You have to take it into context as well. It's summer league. I don't think George was really thinking, or worrying about full-court pressure. You can also obviously tell no one else on the team were worrying either as they didn't come to ball or keep anyone in the backcourt for what, two more plays? As you said, Pop likes scoring PGs. Hill's work out there is learn the plays and be a shooting guard who can run the pick and roll -- even if it high as .

Actually, as a rookie, he's going to get dumb calls until he establishes himself. Agree though, those were some ridiculous calls. The woman ref has no clue.

A portent of things to come, perhaps?

Don't forget that Billups was a key player for the Pistons in the 2005 Finals.

That series would have been over in 4 or 5 games if the refs hadn't let Detroit's defensive bigs foul Duncan in the post with absolute impunity.

My point: I guess the Spurs can expect that against Denver in the Playoffs.
    Wow.

Nope. There's plenty of 6-6 guys who can shoot who can't get NBA jobs, so a 5-11 guy is really going to have a tough time at it.

The refs just conferred, and agreed that they didn't want any flow developing in the game. Worthwhile stoppage.

Props to PoundingTheRock for the interview and quickly getting it online. Impressive

Mahinmi is difficult to root against. Great at ude and you can tell he really wants to live up to the potential everyone knows he has. (Well, almost everyone.)

Again, very impressive game by Mahinmi and a definite stepping stone in his recovery.
