Thabeet has done a good job altering Ian's shots (or Ian is being kind of impatient), but Ian gets very good position, gets the ball early and is very, very quick and assertive today which is why he is drawing those fouls.
I want the Spurs to finish out the SL with a win. If we don't our wins are really lopsided. All 3 out of the first 3.

We're always trailing after the 1st half. Hopefully we win this one though.
Dj manny fresh!
Mahinmi with nine points, four boards and two blocks at the half going against the highest profile center in summer league. Not bad.
I liked how Ian matched up with Thabeet. Nice job there.
Hill looks pretty good but hopefully we'll see him step it up in the 2nd half.
Quiet game for Hairston.
Still blah on Gist. McClinton looks a little better.
How well do you guys think Ian's game will translate to the real NBA?
Halftime- Ian looks good, except for the fouls, if we were going by todays showing he looks more promising than Thabeet. I like how McClinton is playing, penetrating not just sitting on the perimeter, he can obiously create his own shot, if they fall is another story. He was creating openings for other players a lot drawing defenses when he drives. Hill was steady as usual, though Williams is getting the best of him from time to time.
I'd like to see Hairston more involved on offense. Ian is doing well, and Hill is doing good, but could be playing better. If those 3 guys play a little better in the 2nd, the Spurs will win.
Ian looks superior to Thabeet in this game.
Ian doesn't look clumsy out there at all. He actually looks like he belongs. He may be a rotation player after all.
It's more than just the stats from Ian...its going to be about his energy level playing defense. In my opinion, anyways.
Does Thabeet really have 6 PF already? How was this guy a lottery pick? Man, it boggles my mind how NBA teams covet 7 footers like they are gold.
I wonder why Ian rolls so much on every high screen he sets. He does not really do a good job of mixing in some hard/firm screens to get guys open.
As a defender, you know Ian is going to just flash a screen then roll straight to the basket every single time.
The only bad thing I'm seeing out of Ian is his screens. They're just kinda....blah. If he gets better at setting screens, he'll be fine.
Thabeet is going to get dominated in the NBA. I like that Ian is being aggresive.
I do not think you can say that at all. He has the length and athleticism to be very effective on the defensive end. If he commits to playing hard and running the floor he could be an impact player.
Thabeet is garbage. No, really.
Too bad Mahinmi isn't eligible for the D-league. I think he'd be good a year from now with one more season in the D-league to figure everything out. He still needs a lot of playing time to round off the rough edges.
Maybe he'll be able to learn on the fly but the current D-league rules hurt his chances of eventually making it.
I have been surprised and impressed with Ian this summer league, I definitely think he will contribute during the season, other than the fouling my biggest criticism is he doesn't have a real killer instinct around the rim, I think he is quick and athletic enough to really attack the basket, kind of like a shawn kemp (sonics), but he prefers lay ups it seems. Does anyone else see that? I know he is a nice guy and smiles alot, but so was David Robinson, but D Rob was a freak around the basket, he would embarrass people nightly. Not that I expect Ian to be D Rob, obviously Robinson was a better passer, jump shooter, shot blocker, and rebounder, higher IQ, you get the point.
2nd half begins. Same lineup for the Spurs that started the game.
I can already see we cut Ian because we have too many bigs, and sign Taylor or Beck instead...
Fixed it for ya
You can't be serious, can you?
