I have heard reports that say Athens is going to lose money this year. Also, think about the various Olympic venues from the past, what becomes of all the stadia, pools, etc... that were built? When you think about it, every four years some city jumps through all kinds of hoops for the privledge of hosting the Olympics only to have all the trouble that goes along with it.

Why not take the six populated continents and rotate the Olympics between them. One location per continent would be selected, for example:

    Sydney, Austrailia
    Bejing, China
    Athens, Greece
    Nairobi, Kenya
    Los Angeles, USA
    Sao Paulo, Brazil

and back to Sydney and it starts all over again. Money is given by the participating nations for improvements and upgrades to the existing facilities and you get rid of all the waste of building a new Olympic facility every four years.

    What do you think?

The IOC makes money by getting countries to bid against each other in the hope of securing the Games. Your suggestion would eliminate the bidding process and thus cost the IOC money. They wouldn't do it.
